Hawk Happenings March 18-20
Special Q & A Edition
ONLINE LEARNING STARTS TODAY!
Kindergarten & 1st Grade are using SEESAW
2nd Grade - 6th Grade are using GOOGLE CLASSROOM
If you need help with devices, please come to the school today at the times listed in the table below to check out a chromebook. We also have packets for those who do not have any access to internet, but want to encourage you to reach out to companies offering free internet and try to get connected online. Click here to visit our website and read about how you can get free internet access.
If you can't make it in today or at the specified time, call the school to make other arrangements. If you are having trouble getting your child logged on, we will be posting a video on our website to help with that.
HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD WE SPEND ON AT HOME LEARNING EACH DAY?
We know this may be difficult for some families. Please do the best you can. We know this is a learning curve for everyone. We are hoping for a good balance between time spent online and time spent doing other activities . Students shouldn't be on their computer all day.
If this is the first time your child has had their own device, please sit down with your child to determine some rules and parameters. The device should be used for LEARNING ACTIVITIES. We remind parents that it is their responsibility to monitor online activities during this time.
WILL YOU KEEP TRACK OF ATTENDANCE?
Please make sure your child is logging on every day and interacting on SeeSaw or Google Classroom. If your child is sick or you are out of town, please let the teacher know. If teachers notice that your child has not been participating, they will contact you directly.
If students are doing packets, parents will need to email the teacher to let them know that the child has completed the work each day and has been spending time at home doing schoolwork.
WHY ARE YOU KEEPING TRACK OF ATTENDANCE?
TERM 3 ENDED, WHAT ABOUT SEP'S & REPORT CARDS?
CAN WE BRING BACK OR EXCHANGE LIBRARY BOOKS?
Students can log in to SORA, a wonderful online resource for accessing books. Mrs. Stevenson will be sending out more information about this in the next few days. The link is also available on our website on the left sidebar.
Students in Kindergarten - 2nd grade can also log in to RAZ-KIDS to access reading activities. Teachers have shared student log ins and passwords for all of our online learning platforms. If you're having trouble logging in, please email your child's teacher.
MY CHILD HAS AN IEP. HOW CAN THEY GET HELP?
Mrs. Welton & Mrs. Davis will be contacting everyone who receives speech services to make arrangements for online therapy options.
Mr. Bulkley will be contacting the parents of his students to see how he can best meet needs during the break. You can also email him at morgan.bulkley@nebo.edu.
WE HAVE A SCHEDULED IEP, ARE WE STILL MEETING?
WILL THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR BE AVAILABLE?
WILL YOU CONTINUE SERVING MEALS? WHAT IF WE CAN'T BRING OUR CHILD TO THE SCHOOL EACH DAY?
You can go to a school that is closer to your home. For example, families living North of 1400 S may find it closer to go to Payson Jr. High to pick up meals. You are welcome to do this, just call each day to let them know you are coming. The number is 801-465-6015.
You can pick up tomorrow's breakfast (cereal or pop tart) when you pick up todays lunch so you don't have to come to the school twice a day.
IS THERE MORE MY CHILD CAN DO IF THEY GET THEIR WORK DONE QUICKLY?
