STUDENT INFORMATION
KEEP DOORS LOCKED: Please do not let anyone in the building; all visitors and students should ring the doorbell to get in the building. If we all follow this protocol we can monitor who is coming into our school at all times and keep everyone safe.
VAPING/JUULING: Vaping/Juuling on school grounds is illegal regardless of what is in them. Getting caught in possession with one is a violation of the student code and will result in school consequences, an athletic code violation (making you ineligible for athletics and activities), and a $50 ticket plus a mandatory court appearance from the police. Your age does not matter, it is a violation for all students. Social Media pictures of you vaping can lead to these same consequences.
CLEAN CAMPUS: It is common courtesy to clean up after yourselves; our Food Service Staff, Teachers and Custodians work very hard to keep the school clean for you. Please take the time to simply pick up your garbage off of the floors, tables and put your trays away during lunch. In addition, please pick up the garbage on the floors in the halls and in the parking lots and place them in trash cans. This takes a matter of seconds to do and everyone would appreciate it. This is your school and this reflects on you, for you are East High School. When you see a piece of trash on the ground please pick it up and throw it away. Thank you all for your help.
PARKING NOTICE: Just a reminder that there is to be no parking along or on any yellow curb, on a sidewalk, over a crosswalk, in front of any entrance, on the grass, in front of any gate leading to any part of the school grounds, in visitor parking, school vehicle parking or handicap parking, or where any cones have been set up, etc. This is so O&M, contractors, delivery drivers, bus drivers and (if necessary) emergency personnel can easily access those parts of the building and grounds. People that are parking incorrectly may not be warned going forward and take the risk of being towed. Also, if you are parking on the street please make sure that you are not parking in front any of our neighbor’s driveways, mailboxes, etc.
MINOR SCHOOL PERMIT: Families and students who are driving on a minor school permit should read over the minor permit rules on the Iowa DOT Website. A quick few bullet points are:
- Students must take the most direct route from their home to their school and vice versa.
- Students can stop for fuel at the closest station to their route home or to school
- Students can only travel to and from their school between the hours of 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM; this rule supersedes the curfew law.
- Students can ONLY travel to an activity they are involved in as long as the school is a bordering school to the Sioux City Community School District and not more than 25 miles away.
- Students cannot drive to an activity they're not participating in even if the activity is at their school of enrollment.
- Once the student’s activity is over, the student must go home (for example, a JV player cannot stay to attend/watch a Varsity game).
- Students can have one minor household member in their vehicle at a time as long as they are traveling to the same school.
If you have any questions about these rules, please call the Iowa DOT at (515) 244-8725.
