Cougar Pulse
May 2021
Dear Families,
As I'm typing this message, students have just ended their last day of school in April. That means we only have 27 school days remaining until June 9th and summer vacation. The past couple of months have flown by, and I can't imagine how fast this last push to the finish line will be. We have a lot going on during that time!
First of all, our 6th and 7th graders just completed their outdoor school week here at The Creek. Mrs. Cleveland and Mr. Chapman did a great job setting up and preparing our kids, and our friends at Western Oregon Outdoor School put on a memorable experience of learning and fun utilizing our nature trail and forested areas on campus. We hope the students enjoyed their time!
We start the month of May off with Teacher Appreciate Week! Let's let our teachers know how much we value their hard work and dedication to our students and community. Show 'em some love the week of May 3rd-7th! On May 13th we have our Kindergarten Orientation to welcome in all of our new (and old!) kindergarten students and families. Classified Appreciation Week (honoring our classroom and school assistants, office, behavior, kitchen, and custodial staff members) is May 17th-21st...let's make sure they know we know how important they are to the success of our school and students. In May we will also be closing out the year with some assessments, both Star (grades 2-8), our state assessments (for grades 3 and up), and ESGI (for our K-1 students).
Finally, we appreciate all of our parent support as we continue to make health and safety the top priority at Hamilton Creek for both students and staff. Well-fitting masks, social distancing, and clean hands will help us finish off the year with limited interruptions of in-person learning. Please keep any sick kids home and notify the office so we can check symptoms and communicate next steps with you, including whether an extended time away from the building will be necessary. With the recent rise of COVID-19 cases in Linn County, it's important we double-down on reminders and checks, both at school and home. Thank you for your help with this!
If you have any questions feel free to give us a call.
Happy May!
Jordon Ford
Principal

We sanitize and wash hands frequently at school.
