Glows and Grows

Glows: A VERY special shoutout to our special education team and kinder team, especially those attending preschool transition meetings. We have THIRTEEN of these involved, long meetings. Tracy, Nnenna, Casey, Laura, Nicole, Jessica, Jennifer, Courtney, Nic, Deborah, Tory, and all of the sending teams. This has been a huge undertaking and it continues through the month. Thank you for all of your hard work and patience.

Grows: As I am making class visits, most of my reflective/grow questions are looking forward to next year and will focus on asking you about small group instruction. I look forward to hearing from you about your current practice and your thoughts on next year.

UPDATED Reminders....CAASPP Tests

Great job to fourth grade for a great first week. Very calm, focused environment. 3rd and 5th grade, I have student login cards secured in my office. Stop by and I will get those to you. I know most students have headphones but if you need extra, let us know. I will be conducting make-ups as fast as I can. Please be flexible when I call students up.

Just a reminder for Grades 3-5: California reduced segment one of ELA performance task (PT) to 1-2 questions. They didn't, however, approve language to reduce the recommended time allotment until recently.

They have NOW approved language to send to districts. The language states that the ELA PT can be done in one day. Please take note that we have given permission to remove Day 2 of the ELA PT. Please work in collaborative this week to remove that day from the testing schedule. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Family Reading Night

Thank you to Kristine Jackson, Mr. Linnet, Ms. Baker and the rest of our volunteers for organizing and hosting the Cordelia Hills Family Reading Night! The reviews raved about the event this year. We appreciate your hard work =)

Report Cards

Report cards must be printed and placed in cumulative files at the end of the school year. Given the digital nature of report cards, leadership was inquiring as to whether teachers are still required to place them in files. The report cards are part of the permanent record and must be added. Thanks for your help!

STEAM Fair

The CH STEAM Fair is coming May 31st at 5:30 in the MPR. The link is updated and live. Check it out.

Release schedule

Our bell schedule has been approved (kinder restructuring will be reviewed for approval next Thursday). We start at 8:20 and end at 2:30 daily. The release schedule is coming together and should be available later today or Monday for review and final drafting.

In order to meet the release and PE needs we have eight slots available per day for a total of 40 in the week. 3rd-5th grade are in 64 minute slots (2x week) and 1st and 2nd are in 32 minute slots (4 times a week) with a few exceptions.

Emphasis was placed on:

1. Keeping grade levels in the same time slots with few exceptions.

2. Backing up release to a break/start or end of day.
