Swansboro High School
Weekly Updates - September 19, 2021
It is hard to believe that we already have a month of school under our belts. Last week included interim reports, Say Something Training, the HOSA blood drive, our first varsity football win at Farmville on Monday night, Cesar Brawner placing 1st at the XC meet on Wednesday and volleyball bringing home JV and varsity wins Thursday night at Richlands. Congratulations to Delaney Horton who placed 4th in the 5000 meter race at the XC meet at WakeMed on Saturday and a shout out to our marching band for their opening season performance at Onslow Band Showcase at Richlands High School.
This week is the SAVE Promise Club's Start with Hello Week. In addition, we will host our first strategic planning meeting on Monday at 3:00 pm and an early release professional development day on Thursday. Parents should note that all students will dismiss at 11:29 am and remember that lunch will be served. Our band boosters will host a bbq meal that day and you can sign up to purchase one in the link in this newsletter.
This week in athletics includes golf at Star Hill on Monday, volleyball, tennis and soccer at home on Tuesday and Cross Country at Croatan on Wednesday. Thursday will include golf at the Jacksonville Country Club, tennis at White Oak and volleyball and soccer at home. Our varsity football team will travel to Southside on Friday and Cross Country to NE Creek Park on Saturday.
Looking ahead a week, we will host our first Project Graduation parent meeting on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 6:00 pm in our media center. Parents of seniors are encouraged to attend. Parents of seniors who attend at least 5 meetings or volunteer at 5 events are eligible to receive an extra ticket to graduation. Sign up for meeting reminders at: remind.com/join/projgrad22. Next Monday is also underclassmen picture day.
In closing, we alerted parents on Friday about a disturbing trend on TikTok where students are encouraged to damage or steal school property. Please note that Swansboro High School has a zero tolerance policy on vandalism and theft. Offenders and those who videotape damage or theft and post it on social media accounts will face legal consequences and receive a minimum of 5 days of OSS. Please have conversations with your students about the seriousness of such activity and encourage them to alert administration or Deputy Drew if they become aware of any incidents at Swansboro High School.
