VOGELTOWN SCHOOL - THE 'VS' WAY
Care for the land, Care for the people, Go Forward
Our Values: I.R.O.C.K
Inclusive, Respectful, Original, Courageous, Kind
Whakauru, Whakaute, Tipu, Kaha, Atawhai
SCHOOL GOAL: 'BEING ORIGINAL"
WHAT: To follow our school value of being an ORIGINAL learner – by doing it!
WHY: We want all VS learners to be 'Original', show creativity in your work place and learning.
Being original means not following the herd, you make your own positive choices.
HOW: By using your initiative in learning.
By applying what you learn everyday - seek feedback, question and help others.
SIGNS OF SUCCESS: (See profile sheet)
You continue to learn everyday - you apply what you seek and question.
You show creativity in your learning. Make your learning unique and present your work in an original way.
You make your OWN good choices.
You enjoy school and enjoy the opportunities to be original at school!
KIA ORA WHANAU, FROM MR O
We have again been very lucky with the weather this week - there has been a lot of learning outside! A reminder that we expect every learner to have a ‘bucket hat’ to wear when we are outside. You can purchase a school hat from the office or bring along your own. We also have sunscreen available in each classroom or at the office(s). Our learners also need to bring a drink bottle every day as we are unable to have our water fountains in use in alert Level 2.
We have 2 weeks and 2 days left of the term - in total 12 school days left of the year. We have a lot of events planned for the end of the year. Unfortunately due to Level 2 protocols or the Red light ‘Covid Protection Framework’ the events we normally have whanau along for will look a little different.
For our Talent Quest final next Friday 3rd Dec, we will Facebook Live this event. If you have done so already, make sure you ‘like’ our school Facebook page to receive the notifications.
For our Vogeltowner Assembly on Friday 10th December, we will be asking that each of the Vogeltowner recipients bring only 2 parents/caregivers with them on the day - this is to keep us under 100 people in our hall.
There will be lots of fun syndicate events happening over the next 2 weeks. There will be separate notices coming home from each syndicate about these.

VS Home and School
VOGELTOWN LEARNERS CORNER
One day when I was coming back from school I saw a spooky, scary house. So, the next day when I was coming back from school I noticed that the house was not there. I looked behind me and there it was - which creeped me out a lot! I told my friends but they didn't believe me which was to be expected. I told them to come with me to investigate after school. When it was time to go back home we went investigating. As soon as we got there we heard a noise. We all ran to open the door but the door was locked. Noah saw a hammer and a window. He smashed it. Then suddenly the roof broke down. One giant piece fall on Madhav. Noah and I helped it off him. Then, Noah smashed another one of the windows. A weird looking alien, snake thing appeared. It was coming for us. All of a sudden, for some reason, we teleported back to our own houses. To be continued...
