HYBRID LEARNERS: Please watch this safety video with your families before orientation!
Dear Families:
Despite all the ups and downs of technology glitches, we had a wonderful week of learning with our incredible kids. Thank you for all that you do to support them with engaging at home. We are so grateful for your partnership.
Each week's newsletter is focused on the week ahead, so this one is largely about orientation week for our hybrid learners. When you are looking for accurate, up-to-date and best information about what's happening in both our 100% remote and hybrid classrooms, the tab on our website labelled "HYBRID/REMOTE" is the best place to look for answers. You can find that page here: https://everitt.jeffcopublicschools.org/remote_learning
As always, thank you for sharing your kids with us, and thank you for welcoming me to this extraordinary community!

6th GRADE FAMILIES!! Please read this important information from Outdoor Lab.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Outdoor Lab is pleased to announce that we will be able to host kids at a minimal capacity for two day trips with NO overnight stay. Students will be bussed up to the Outdoor Lab sites each day and return each evening. All COVID safety and health procedures set forth by Jeffco Public Schools will be followed.
When: Your student will be attending two consecutive days during the week of Nov 16 - 20. Cohort A-K will attend on Nov. 16 & 17, and Cohort L-Z will attend November 18 & 19.
How: Students will arrive at their home school at their regular time using their regular method (unless your school communicates otherwise) and proceed with the normal health screening. Students will then load the Jeffco School Busses (which will be following all transportation safety guidelines and can be found here) and transported to either Mt Evans or Windy Peak. Buses are scheduled to depart from schools around 9:30am and return around 7:00pm. When they arrive at Outdoor Lab, students will be with only other students from their school cohort and site staff. A typical group will be 5-10 students (all from the same cohort) and one or two Outdoor Lab staff. The majority of the day will be spent outside and all social distancing and mask mandates will be implemented and monitored.
Lunch and dinner will be served to students, again with modifications adhering to current health guidelines. Grab and go style of meals will be served and there will be no large groups in the dining hall. Your student is welcome to bring their own food. Please be advised that we are a nut free campus and snacks are not permitted. A permission/medical form will be sent home soon from your student’s home school. This will need to be completed prior to the trip.
Our goal is to provide students with the best experience possible and one they will never forget. Students will be outside for all classes and activities, weather permitting. Classes will include some of Outdoor Lab’s favorites: archery, initiatives course, team building activities, hiking with beautiful views, and science activities. We are also excited to introduce a class on survival and one titled “What Lives Here?” Students will stay with the same student group and the same Outdoor Lab instructor both days.
Cost: TBD.
Medication, Health, and Diet Concerns:
Both sites will have nurses/clinic aides on site for the duration of your child’s trip. All health and dietary concerns should be disclosed on the permission/medical form that is required for each student prior to the trip. Home school clinics will be working closely with Outdoor Lab clinics to ensure students are properly taken care of.
Attire and what to bring:
Students should be prepared to spend the majority of their time outside. Both sites are at approximately 8,200 feet in elevation and extreme weather can occur at any moment. Preparation is important. Sturdy shoes as well as layered attire should be worn to accommodate for any weather changes which commonly occur. Pants are recommended, however, for students attending during warmer weather (August and September) shorts are permitted, but please pack a pair of pants just in case the weather changes. Students should also have a backpack with the following items:
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Extra layer
- *Hand sanitizer
- *Camera
- Hat
- Water bottle
- Extra mask
- *Chapstick
- Notebook + Pen/Pencil
*Recommended, but not required.
As you know this is an on-going process that requires us to be flexible and adaptable and shift our behavior as our circumstances evolve. We appreciate your support and we look forward to making the best of this situation. If you have any questions regarding your student’s trip, please reach out to your student’s teacher(s).
Sincerely,
The Outdoor Lab Team
