Volleyball Pink Out
Please join the Liberty Lightning Volleyball team as they welcome the Jefferson J-Hawks for our Home Pink OUT Volleyball Match on
Tuesday, October 9 @ 7 PM.
This Breast Cancer Awareness
The night will feature a Bake Sale,T-Shirt Sale, Raffles, and a Mad-Money Dash.
All Funds raised will be donated to Team Breast Friends and their mission to give financial aid to those under and uninsured, in order to have diagnostic care and treatment for breast cancer.
Order your T-Shirt today and join us as we honor the fighters, survivors, and those fallen.
Internships
The Workplace Learning Connection Internships program is a more in-depth, "on the job" experience. Students complete a 45 hour practicum or a 90 hour internship in the field of their choice and receive elective high school credit upon completion. Current Junior and Senior students are eligible to apply for Fall, Spring or Summer internships. Sophomore students may apply for a summer internship.

Yearbook news for SENIORS
Seniors & Senior Parents!
1) The Journalism Staff is collecting senior pictures for the yearbook and newspaper. These are due by January 31st.
2) They are collecting payments and content for vanity ads in the yearbook.
3) They are now offering senior photo sessions done by our staff for a very competitive cost.

Seniors Cap and Gown information
Jostens will be at Liberty High School to take cap, gown and graduation orders on Thursday, October 4 during lunch. Your student received a packet on Tuesday, September 25 during a class meeting. If they weren't able to attend, extra packets are available in the main office
.
Please see your packet for important ordering, product and payment information. Most apparel items will be delivered on in-school ordering day.
We hope you and your student takes advantage of this opportunity and will enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime celebration that comes with graduation.

Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) for young women
Rotary service project to Mexico
The Rotary Club offers a scholarship opportunity for a service trip to Xicopetec, Mexico, Xicoproject during Spring Break. Students go with area teachers and a doctor. Jim Pederson, a former ICCSD administrator helps organize the trip. Applications are due Oct. 8.
Anyone interested in traveling to Mexico during Spring Break to complete service work, please contact Peggy Dolson at dolson.peggy@iowacityschools.org. Scholarships are available.
Class Rings through Jostens (sophomore parents)
Jostens will be at Liberty High School to take class ring orders on Thursday, October 4 during lunch. Information packets will be in the high school office for your student to take home. Please see your packet for important ordering, warranty, and payment plan information.

Interpreters Needed
The Iowa City Community School District is looking to hire interpreters and translators to facilitate communication between families and staff on an occasional basis. There is a great need for French and/or Arabic interpreters and translators, but individuals who have expertise in other languages are also encouraged to apply. Individuals must have proficient oral and/or written skills in English as well as the target language. Beth Hieronymous-Special Education and Instructional Design Strategist
Beth Hieronymus, Special Education Teacher and IDS, loves connecting with others and figuring out what makes learning work! Before coming to Liberty, she taught at Jefferson High School and served as IDS at most of the secondary schools across Iowa City over the last 5 years. She feels blessed to be part of the staff at Liberty. Outside of school, Beth enjoys gardening, cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Kay Nigg-Mathematics and Instructional Design Strategist
Kay Nigg, Instructional Design Strategist/Math Teacher, was born and raised on a farm in
Northern Illinois. She has taught and lived in the Iowa City area for thirty years. She has been a math teacher at Northwest JH, South East JH and West High School. She enjoys teaching and working with students. She looks forward to working with teachers in her new role of IDS. She believes she can assist, support, and challenge her colleagues to reaching their goals and make a positive impact in Liberty’s student lives. She loves watching students participating in Liberty activities, cheering on the Hawkeyes, outdoor activites, and spending time with her family and friends.
Seth Schroeder-Social Studies and Instructional Design Strategist
Seth Schroeder, Social Studies teacher and Instructional Design Strategist (IDS), is a North Liberty resident and in his first year at Liberty. Previously, Seth taught at Northwest Junior High where he also served as an IDS. Seth is passionate about connecting with and building relationships with the students and staff at Liberty. He feels very blessed to be a part of the growing Liberty family. Outside of school he stays busy coaching his son, Jordan, in baseball and basketball as well as following his daughter, Emmy, in her dancing adventures.
