A popular and fun part of Holly Academy culture is "Spirit Week". As you know, next week is Spirit Week with a theme each day. Your student/s may dress down each day if they follow the theme. Please remember that we do not wear costumes to school on Halloween; however, students can wear Halloween colors (orange, black, purple, green) or a Halloween themed shirt (no blood, gore, or inappropriate content). During the week we also run a penny drive which is a competition between grade levels - pennies are counted as positive points and silver and paper money is counted as negative. Our students find creative and innovative ways to show their school spirit each year, we are sure this year will be no different! It's great to be a Husky!

Our students leave HA to go on to be wonderfully successful in high school. Douglas Lutz played on our HA soccer team for three years and was the only freshman on the Varsity Soccer Team at Holly High School this fall. We are so proud that Douglas was awarded a varsity letter on Tuesday! Once a Husky, always a Husky!

Did You Know...

  1. Our HA middle school typically has an enrollment of 225-275?
  2. Studies show that a small school environment is often superior to that of a larger school?
  3. Student attitudes toward school are more positive?
  4. Levels of extra-curricular participation are higher?
  5. Academic achievement is often superior?
  6. Students have a greater sense of belonging?
  7. Student academic and general self-concepts are higher?

New families - we are holding a Town Hall meeting on November 13th at 8:00am in the media center to touch base with you to ensure we are meeting our mission. It is important to us that you and your Huskies are pleased with us, both academically and socially. This Town Hall meeting is brought to you by Battle Alley Coffee and Holly Donut Shop. We hope to see you then. Power of the Pack!

Number Sense November is coming!!

Many of you are familiar with March is Reading month, well, this year we are adding Number Sense November! Be on the lookout for number lines, activity calendars, problems of the day, and student prizes!

Some simple ways to incorporate math into your child's home life are:

  1. Have your child help with measuring ingredients for meals.
  2. Fraction practice with pizza, cookies, cakes. How many halves are in a whole? Quarters? Thirds?
  3. Playing math games, such as Yahtzee.
  4. Counting coins.

Number Sense November kicks off next Friday! Let's make November count!
