Husky Happenings
March 5th - March 9th
From Mr. Martin
Thank you for your patience with our small changes regarding the traffic flow and the car loop in the afternoon, everything seems to be running smoothly. Our true test will be when we have a cold snap that puts more parents in the carpool line and fewer students walking or riding a bike to school.
I am not sure if you have the chance to see all the healthy food choices our cafeteria offers, but just last week we had fresh pineapple and freshly baked broccoli. I know that the students as well as I enjoy the variety of healthy options offered.
Included this week, we have our upcoming events, as well as significant dates through the end of the school year. I know there are many questions regarding the last day of school; however, I do not anticipate any specifics until April, as there could be additional bad weather days in our future.
Spring Break is right around the corner; next week is a 4-day school week, and the final week of our 3rd Quarter. Skyward is an excellent tool to access your student’s progress so far this quarter. If you have questions regarding your Login, please contact the office and we can assist you.

From Nurse Collins
***ATTENTION PARENTS OF INCOMING 7th GRADE STUDENTS FOR THE 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR***
All 7th grade students will need their Tdap immunization to start 7th grade. It is required per Kansas law. Spring Break is a great time to get those done and beat the summer rush. Please turn in documentation to the nurse that your student has had the immunization.
HEADACHES IN CHILDREN AND TEENS: Headaches are a common complaint among students at the middle school level. These headaches can be caused by many different factors such as dehydration, lack of sleep, stress, caffeine or caffeine withdrawal, skipping meals, loud music or too much screen or TV time. Usually rest/sleep, hydrating, putting a cold cloth on the head, or eating can help manage headaches. Sometimes over the counter pain relievers may be needed. However, if your student is requiring or taking over the counter pain relievers more than twice a week for headaches, this may be a sign that you need to talk to your doctor. We like to try several non-medication options at school before distributing ibuprofen or acetaminophen if possible.
