SLA-MS is a Place of Learning!
SLA-MS is a place of learning. For students to be successful we need your support with:
- The school day starts at 8:15!! Being on time is essential to students starting their day off right. Students need to have their breakfast completed before 8:15 am!!
- Student's cell phones are off during the school day. If you need to reach your student, you can call our main office at (215) 400-8320.
- Chromebooks - Having a fully charged Chromebook at the beginning of each school day is crucial. It is a student's responsibility to have their Chromebook charged. A fully charged Chromebook should last the entire school day. If your student needs a new charger, there is information on how to order a new one at the following link: https://slams.philasd.org/chromebooks/
- We have a limited number of used Chromebook chargers available for sale. These chargers fit the 6th through 8th-grade Chromebooks (not the new 5th-grade Chromebooks, sorry!) and are available for $10 while supplies last. Please send payment - cash only - to Ms. Martin.
- Title 1 Information:
For the Parent and Engagement Policy and the School-Parent Compact 2019- 2020 School Year information is all located in the Main Office.

- Students Run Philly @ SLA-MS: We're getting ready for our second season of Students Run Philly Style team for SLAMS! Students Run Philly Style is a mentoring program that uses long-distance running as a means to set goals and work on being the best version of ourselves. We had an amazing first season with 9 of our students participating in the Philadelphia Marathon week. Students will be able to train and participate in races around the city including the Broad Street Run in May. Students who join the program will have running practice two days a week after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 until 4:45 and on Saturday mornings at SLAMS. This program is open to students in grades 6, 7, and 8. In order to participate students and a parent/guardian must attend a mandatory meeting on Monday, February 3, 2020, from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM for program information and registration. Students must have a valid physical that clears them to participate in athletics. Students who are interested need to stop by Ms. Londo or Ms. Nakaishi's room to sign up to indicate their interest or for more information about the program. If parents and guardians would like more information or if they have a conflict with the meeting date, they can contact Ms. Londo at scrilley@philasd.org and arrange to meet with her during Report Card Conferences later that week.
