SAC Parent Representative Voting
The following members of the School Advisory Committee have been selected by their peers for the 2023-2024 School Year:
Teacher: Mr. Chad Mallo
School-Related Personnel: Ms. Kayla Goldberg
We are ready to select our parent representatives, using this ballot. We appreciate so many parents stepping forward to help our school!
Morning & Afternoon Car Line Safety Procedures
It's time to revisit the drop off and pick up procedures that are in place for the safety of students and staff. We so appreciate the families who have worked with us to streamline processes and made helpful suggestions for us to consider.
If we cannot follow these guidelines, we will have to curtail some of the options to ensure that we have a single, consistent traffic pattern in place. Some of those measures will include keeping gates locked until 7:40 AM, and blocking access to parking lots in the afternoon. We need your cooperation and good example to ensure a safe campus.
Morning Drop Off:
- 1. The staff work day begins at 7:40 AM. No teachers or administrators are available for supervision prior to 7:40 AM.
- 2. Our SRO has allowed families to drop off students prior to 7:40 AM, and he’s often out front at that time or in the parking lot in his car to provide some supervision from approximately 7:20 AM on.
- 3. While parents may elect to drop students off prior to 7:40 AM, the school’s official drop off time has been and remains 7:40 AM when we provide adult supervision.
- 4. Drop off is in the car line lane, along the exterior of the school. This prevents students from walking through the path of moving vehicles as staff members report to work.
- 5. Families should pull as far forward as possible to allow the maximum number of vehicles to drop off students and keep the traffic flowing. If you need to take a few minutes before your student exits your vehicle, please pull into a parking space at the north end of the school. This will allow traffic to flow smoothly and consistently for those ready to drop off.
- 6. Please do not block the gate entrance for our buses.
- 7. Please observe speed limits on roads near the school.
Afternoon Pick Up:
- 1. The afternoon carline is along the curb in front of the school, in a single file line.
- 2. Students load into vehicles at the front of the school--not on the side, not along the roadway, and not into vehicles that are not parked in parking spots.
- 3. Families should pull as far forward as possible to allow the maximum number of vehicles to pick up students and keep the traffic flowing.
- 4. Families who wish to pick up students in the parking lots in front of the school or at the north end of the building must park and walk up to meet them at the crosswalk or on the walkway.
- 5. Students are only permitted to cross at the crosswalk, when staff members can safely stop vehicles and supervise.
- 6. Students will not be permitted to cross and load into vehicles that are stopped in a traffic lane in the parking lot. You must park and exit the vehicle.
- 7. Please obey staff directions regarding when to pull forward, when to wait, and when it’s safe to pull around a delayed vehicle.
- 8. Please observe speed limits on roads near the school.
Important Information for 8th-grade Students & Families
After much consideration, the School Choice office has determined that 8th-grade students WILL need to apply for admissions into the high school program. This decision will require students to meet the entrance criteria in place for test scores, grades, attendance, and behavior. Additionally, student applications will be reviewed to ensure balanced enrollment in all of our career pathways.
The school team will meet with students and their parents if they are at risk of not meeting admissions requirements to move from 8th-grade into one of our high school pathways.

Strong Partnerships Yield Great Student Outcomes
Parent-Teacher communication is essential in supporting student growth and learning. Often, the most convenient method for both parties is email--as it allows senders to compose their thoughts and reach out at a time that is convenient for them, while also ensuring that the recipient has the opportunity to respond at a time when they can give the message, question, or concern the attention it deserves.
Teachers do not have voicemail enabled on their classroom phones. To avoid interruptions during lessons, the front desk will not be able to transfer phone calls to the classroom. Callers will be asked to send an email message if they are calling during a time in which the teacher is scheduled to be teaching.
The district has worked to add communication features within the MyStudent platform to support this key partnership. It is important to know that parent users will need to login on the MyStudent app to see waiting messages. A complete directory of staff email addresses is available on our school website.

Magnet Program Attendance Requirements Explained
Students enrolled in a magnet program must demonstrate a pattern of consistent attendance. Students who miss more than 5% of their school days may be recommended for revocation of their school choice assignment. If your student must miss school for any reason, please reach out to our school office for information about obtaining excused absence status and to review their overall attendance status.
Students whose attendance, grades, behavior or test score data indicate a reason for concern will receive notification letters during the week of 10/16 - 10/20, and will work with school staff to develop an improvement plan for Quarter 2.
Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) - Grades 8-10
The PSAT 8/9 assessment will help your child prepare for the future. It helps establish a baseline for students as they enter high school and begin preparing for college and career readiness. By taking the PSAT 8/9, your child will learn which skills he or she needs to work on for continued success when preparing for high school and ultimately college. In addition, the PSAT 8/9 will identify areas where your child excels (and may want to consider taking higher-level courses), as well as areas he or she should focus to improve academically.
It also provides students with better access to data and personalized study through the online College Board and Khan Academy, and offers a readiness baseline for the SAT. It allows online access to explore careers, majors, and schools which may align with your child’s personal interest, and provides planning tips and financial aid information.
Historically, students who take the PSAT score higher on the SAT, on average, than those who do not take the test. Please note that the PSAT 8/9 scores are not sent to colleges.
All 10th-grade students are invited to sit for the PSAT/NMSQT, the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which is an important assessment for college preparation.
Notice of Public Meetings
On February 7, 2023, the School Board approved a lease agreement with Vertex Development, LLC to place a cell tower on the Angeline Academy of Innovation campus. This cell tower will improve cell service not only on the campus but for the surrounding area as well. Vertex is working through the cell tower approval process with Pasco County.
There are two upcoming public hearings regarding the tower. The first is with the Planning Commission on September 21, 2023 at 1:30 PM. The second public hearing is with the Board of County Commissioners on October 24, 2023. Both meetings are scheduled to be held at the West Pasco Government Center Boardroom in New Port Richey. If you have questions, comments or would like additional information please contact Chris Williams, Director of Planning, at cwilliam@pasco.k12.fl.us, or (813) 794-7970.

5 Essentials Your Teen Needs for Navigating the Future
“The only thing constant in life is change.” The Greek philosopher Heraclitus made this statement over 2500 years ago. However, it’s remarkable how timely it feels today. Just think about the last 30 years. The internet became available to the public in 1993. Facebook was developed in 2004. The first iPhone came out in 2007. Instagram was introduced in 2010. Snapchat in 2011. TikTok became available in the U.S. in 2018. ChatGPT was released to the public in 2022. What’s next? While it’s hard for most of us to envision the future, we need to do all we can to help our teens prepare for it. Though it’s impossible to know what skills our teens will need, we can know the type of character they must have to navigate it well. Here are 5 essentials your teen needs for navigating the future.
Huddle up with your kids and ask, “What do you think is the most important character trait you’ll need for the future?”
Pasco County Schools is required to notify parents if their student is receiving instruction from a teacher who is teaching outside of their certified field. Individuals who are teaching out-of-field are qualified to teach but are required to take additional coursework or testing to add a teaching area and/or endorsement to their certificate.
The state also requires a teacher to take coursework or in-service towards an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) endorsement when the teacher is the primary language arts teacher and/or reading teacher for an ESOL student.
The following teachers have agreed to teach outside their field while completing their coursework and/or testing requirements:
Hoang, Loc - Engineering/Technology Education
Prendes, Melinda - English/Language Arts & Drama
Santos-Banks, Guiselt - Soclai Studies
