Mentoring Update!

Keller ISD Fall 2013

Bite-Sized Pieces

As our zero year teachers (INSPIRE Academy teachers), are moving into the disillusionment phase of the school year, please make sure that you are providing training and assistance in "bite-sized pieces."

Watch for signs that this phase is going past disillusionment to despair and depression. Encourage your INSPIRE Academy teachers to journal the lessons they have learned so far. This will allow them to reflect at the end of the year and make adjustments for next year.

Make sure that you are allowing them time to "chew on" the entire context of the mentoring and coaching.

Please click on the link below to take the mentoring training survey. We really want your feedback! :-)

Turkey Feathers!

Please create your turkey feathers for each INSPIRE Academy teacher on your campus. Send them via e-mail to Vicki Arrington when you have finished. If you need another template, just let Vicki know. Feathers are due on November 7th.

Ways to Inspire our New Teachers!

  • Help them with ideas for management issues that are not resolved yet.
  • Help them with tough students and any parent problems.
  • Be sure to provide them sincere encouragement.
  • Make sure you are using reflective listening to understand their core concerns.
  • Help them focus on any successes.
  • Work through Chapter 10 in their Ginger Tucker yellow notebook on stress management together.
  • Try to avoid minimizing their concerns.
  • Do something extra for them. :-)
