Knights Watch

April 27 - May 1

The End is Near

As I walked through the halls this week, I paid close attention to the things I heard many of you saying to our kids. I heard many positive and encouraging words that made me proud. I think a lot of times we get caught up in the stress of things due, new testing, new everything... that we forget the reason we're all here. We've got a busy week and that trend will continue until we are out of here in June. In the hustle and bustle, I hope you'll take the time to enjoy yourself and enjoy our kids. They are absolutely amazing.

Between now and Tuesday, May 12, I am going to be looking at our student displays in the hall. I'm sure you all know how important it is to keep up exciting displays of student work for our students and our parents. I will select one display that catches my eye before Tuesday, May 12. The teacher and students responsible will receive a cash prize to spend on a special treat that they vote on for the classroom.

Katie Abril updated the bulletin board in the lounge (Thanks, Katie!). She added an awesome "high-five" section. Be sure to take a minute to read what's there and maybe even add one of your own. We have so many things to be proud of everyday and most of these things are never talked about.

Congratulations to Ashley Ghent on being selected as our Employee of Excellence for having a positive impact on the culture and environment of MGES! She will be recognized at Monday night's board meeting. If you've never popped into Ashley's room, put it on your list and stop by during your planning.

      May 5th Lunch Change

Our building will be used as a precinct on May 5th as citizens make a decision about the bond referendum. The challenge with this is that May 5 is a regular school day. We will serve breakfast as normal, but will need to serve bagged lunches so that students can eat in your classroom or outside if it's a nice day. Each class will still walk through the line so that all lunches can be accounted for. This will also be a great opportunity for students to get a look at voting.

We will all need to park on the right side of the parking lot to make room for voters. Please park on the playground side of the parking lot this day.
