Town of Sunnyvale - Feb. 4, 2022

Normal operations for all Town Hall will resume on Monday, Feb. 7.

Doris Padgett Public Library will open at normal time - 10 a.m. - tomorrow, Feb. 5.

Republic Services update

The Town of Sunnyvale received an update from Republic Services.

Road conditions have not improved enough for Republic Services to collect on Saturday, Feb. 5, as previously mentioned. Routes will be collected on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

At this time, it is unclear whether Republic Services will collect both trash and recycle on Tuesday, Feb. 8. The Town has reached out for clarification; once received, an update will be posted to the Town's social media platforms and the Town's website.

Hard freeze and road conditions

Hard freeze:

A hard freeze warning will go into effect at midnight, until 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Remember the four Ps! Protect people, pets, pipes, and plants.

Road conditions:

While road conditions have improved slightly today, we are not quite out of the woods just yet.

Any precipitation on the roadways will refreeze Friday night, into Saturday morning.

If you can stay home, please do so. If you must get out, please drive safely at a slow speed, allowing plenty of space between other vehicles.

Big picture

Important information

If you experience a busted pipe and you are unable to locate your water shut off, do NOT call 9-1-1. Instead, call the Public Works on-call number, Town Hall or the non-emergency number. Someone will be available to assist you as fast as they are able to get to you.

IMPORTANT PHONE NUMBERS:

Non-Emergencies - (972) 203-0312

On-call Public Works - (972) 251-0567

Please call 9-1-1 for true emergencies only during this time. It is imperative that the system does not become overloaded with non-emergent calls, so that our first responders are available to respond to actual emergencies.

Upcoming CERT opportunity

EastTex CERT is sponsored by the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management, and is an all-volunteer organization that helps local law enforcement, fire, and emergency management when disasters strike, missing person searches, and public event support. EastTex CERT has over 200 active members and serves Rockwall, Hunt, Kaufman, Collin, and Van Zandt Counties and the Town of Sunnyvale.

The next CERT class will be held on Feb. 12 and Feb. 19 in Rockwall. You must sign up for both days if you are a new member. If you attended the first CERT class in Sunnyvale (or elsewhere) and need to finish your second class, you may finish the second class in Rockwall on Feb. 19.

This is a FREE two-day class that will teach you many preparedness tips to help protect your family as well as the basic skills needed by all EastTex Regional CERT members. Although not required, you can choose to be an active member of the deployment team and be put on the call-out list for emergencies. The class is available to those age 14 and over and all volunteers must go through a criminal background check. *You must be 18 to join the active call-out team.
