Our Mission

We believe that through teaching and learning, we have the opportunity to impact and positively change the lives of our students. We believe that all students are capable of defining and experiencing success, ultimately building confidence in themselves while instilling a spirit of generosity, drive, passion, and focus. We work in collaboration with San Jacinto College to help at-risk students attain college credit with the aspiration of earning an Associate’s Degree and Distinguished High School diploma in four years.

Happy 2016 and A Refocus on Our "Why"

Greetings and Happy New Year! I hope that you enjoyed your break and spent time doing the things that make you happy. I had the pleasure of reading Simon Sinek's "Start With Why" over the break, and it was a fantastic read and one that came at the right time. If you recall, we viewed his TED talk at the beginning of the year (see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4ZoJKF_VuA), and his book delves more into his concept of the golden circle, and the importance of "why" we do what we do.

The read resonated with me as it gave me time to really think about who we are, why we exist and do what we do on a daily basis. And it led to this: We exist to provide opportunities to students to grow and enrich their lives. We remove barriers and self-doubt of students, and sometimes, families' that they aren't capable of achieving success academically. This is far from easy, but I see it done on a daily basis in your classrooms through positive, meaningful relationships. In a few short months, we will graduate our first class. And while we will have students successfully completing their Associate's Degree in conjunction with their high school diploma, we will have some students earning their diploma when the possibility of this happening would not have been likely in any other setting. You have provided the coaching, the relationships, and simply caring for our students. My hope for this second half is that we continue to grow and learn together for the benefit of our students.

Thank you for making a difference and let's get ready for an awesome second half to the year!
