New Warrior in the Counseling Office
My name is Issac Rene Contreras and I'm excited to be part of the Warrior Familia!
I received my Bachelor's of Science in Human Service with a concentration in Mental Health from CSUF and moved on and earned a Master's of Science in Education combined with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from California Baptist University. I have over 16 years of experience working with and for youth through different community organizations. Over the past 8 years, I've been privileged enough to hold the position as a school counselor. I truly focus my craft in relationship building and student advocacy with a high focus towards students of color and equity.
I'm originally from Whittier, CA but now reside in the IE. I enjoy sippin' on a great cup of cafe, watching UCLA sports, and spending time with my beautiful wife!

Tips for Success
Allow yourself to feel. Emotions are part of the human experience, and you have every right to feel them, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, socio-economic status, religion, race or political affiliation.
Talk it out. Find someone you trust and can express your emotions.
Try journaling. Each night write down at least three feelings you had over the course of the day and what caused them. It does not need to be extensive. Just a few sentences, or bullet points to help you practice being comfortable with identifying and expressing your emotions.
See a mental health professional. If you are having trouble with dealing with your emotions, counselors and therapists are trained to help.
