All About Relationships
Teachers have an important role that goes beyond the classroom academics. Improving students' relationships with teachers has important, positive and long-lasting implications for students' academic and social development. Studies have shown that only improving students' relationships with their teachers will not produce gains in achievement. However, those students who have close, positive and supportive relationships with their teachers will attain higher levels of achievement than those students with more conflict relationships with their teachers. Here are some ways to increase student relationships in your classroom.
Teachers show their pleasure and enjoyment of students.
Teachers interact in a responsive and respectful manner.
Teachers offer students help (e.g., answering questions in timely manner, offering support that matches the children's needs) in achieving academic and social objectives.
Teachers help students reflect on their thinking and learning skills.
Teachers know and demonstrate knowledge about individual students' backgrounds, interests, emotional strengths and academic levels.
Teachers seldom show irritability or aggravation toward students.

Dodge, duck, dip, dive, dodge!
The Cosmic Dodge ball Fundraiser took place on October 3rd and raised over $1000.00. The tournament featured normal games of dodge ball with a twist- the lights will be out. Students from each grade level got the opportunity to challenge other grade levels and the teachers. The black lights around the gym and the glow gear added a special glow to the pitch black gym. The event had over 150 participants. Thank you to all the staff members that came out to play and advertised the event to your students.
