Between June 22, 1941 and December 12, 1941, the The Nazi army targeted Moscow, Leningrad in Ukraine and southern Russia.
What and Why
- Germany invades Soviet Union (Operation Barbarossa) plus 3 million troops and 3,500 tanks involved making it the largest military operation.
- Barbarossa was one the most significant moments of the war
- Throughout this invasion, Germany had advanced greatly in the Soviet Union
- At the end of of the battle, Germany eventually abandoned the operation.
