Shelter the homeless - October 14, 2015

Dear Parents,

These first weeks of October have been filled with the beauty of nature and many school activities that bring children and Jesus together. I hope you have been enjoying the pictures posted to our Facebook page. This allows you a glimpse of the many wonderful things about our school.

Our mission statement promotes service. This month as we focus on "shelter the homeless", we are asking families to remember the blessings in your own home and remember those who are not as blessed. In the STAR today, you will find a list of items needed at the Salvation Army, Center of Hope, which takes care of many people daily with food and shelter. As a family, discuss the issue of homelessness and how we are called to help. Choose just one item on the list and send it to school or bring it in during conferences. Faculty members will deliver the items to the Center of Hope. Also remember that the OMG Youth Group of the parish is collecting coats and blankets. Thank you for participating in the corporal works of mercy.

Meeting with the homeroom teacher is essential to building good relationships that benefit your child in the educational process. This year sign-ups for Parent-Teacher Conference slots will be done online through Option C. Please sign up to meet with your child's homeroom teacher first and then any other teachers you need to meet with. The office will not be sending home signup sheets, nor will reminders be sent. Directions for sign-ups are in the STAR. Please contact the school office, not the classroom teacher, should you need assistance. Those not signed up by Wed. Oct. 21, will be assigned a slot. Every year we have a great turnout of parents. It is important that children see parents working with the school in partnership for their benefit. Thank you for your efforts.

It is a great day in the kingdom of God!
