Reminders about Car Rider Dropoff

  • Please ensure that your students are prepared to get out of the vehicle before you pull up to stop (ready to get out with backpacks, masks, water bottles, etc.)
  • If your child is reluctant to exit the vehicle, or if they are unprepared to exit the vehicle for any reason, please pull forward and to the left side while you resolve the issue, so that the line can continue to progress
  • For safety reasons, students should exit the car on the passenger side.
  • To avoid your child receiving a tardy and impacting their attendance, please attempt to complete drop-off before 9:12

Share your input

The time has come for North Kansas City Schools to embark on creation of the district’s next five-year Strategic Plan. The purpose of such work is to articulate our shared vision, mission and values, guiding the future of student success. We’ve partnered with Dr. Lindsey Gunn of The Cambrian Group for the last two iterations of this plan. This has served us well, helping to define aspirational goals for organizational improvement with representation from students, families, staff members, Board members, business partners and the community.

North Kansas City Schools’ first step in strategic planning involves gathering input from students, families, community and staff members. Students will have a variety of means to share their thinking. All other stakeholders will have two options for their voices to be heard: Community Forums or Virtual Input.

We do not have supervision for students outside of the building until staff reports at 9:45 for their arrival duty. We also need volunteers for after the fair to help tear down. Any volunteers who work for 2 hours will earn $5 scholastic dollars towards books at our fair!

Know a middle or high schooler looking to earn service hours? We can use their help as well. These volunteers can help students find books and help restock (junior crew volunteers will not help cashier or handle money!) Portrait of a Graduate: October Update (REPEATED ITEM)

Beginning this year, North Kansas City Schools is implementing a Portrait of a Graduate initiative. This program is designed to teach students different competencies that they can use to be successful beyond their time in school. This month’s competency is Empathy. Empathy is demonstrated by showing sensitivity, concern, and respect for others. Students will be making intentional decisions to take actions by recognizing the impact of others around them. Nashua will encourage empathy by teaching classroom lessons, recognizing empathy, and setting individual goals. Empathy can be supported at home by talking about emotions and how our actions impact others.

Fall Parties and Parade (REPEATED ITEM)

Fall parties will take place on Friday, October 29. We are thrilled to welcome families back to Nashua this year for the parade, but are limited to visitors being outdoors only for this event.

The day's events will take place as follows:

-Party snack will take place at lunch time in the cafe to eliminate potential exposure in classrooms

-Party games/activities (provided by PTA) will be done in the classroom with the teacher at a time convenient for the teacher

-Because some teachers may decide to do their party activity near the beginning of the day, students will be allowed to wear costumes to school in the morning. No makeup or masks, and accessories are to be small enough to fit into backpack and should not be weapons.

-At approximately 2:15 classes will go outside for the parade, and this will be followed by a school and family dance party outside. This will end at 3:00 and students will return to their classrooms with teachers. The parade/dance party is the only component to which families will be invited, and the goal is to give families an opportunity to participate in some of our fun for the day! We plan to have a DJ and have also invited Staley athletes to join us for the dance party.

-Students are not to leave the playground with parents. If parents would like to check their child out, they must come to the office and the office will call for their child.

Car Rider Line Procedure (REPEATED ITEM)

To ensure safety during arrival and dismissal we ask that all families adhere to the car rider procedure on the map below. Car riders will access their line from the westbound lane of 114th street by way of McGee street. The NKC Buses will access the bus loop by driving eastbound on 114th street.

In addition, if you are lining up early for dismissal, we ask that you not block driveways and mailboxes along 114th street or McGee street.

Thank you so much for your cooperation, as this helps for a smoother dismissal for everyone.
