The Reidy Report
February Issue I
Enjoy Seattle in February
It's that time of year when consistently gray skies may have us feeling a bit gloomy, but no need to despair! Here are some suggestions for activities to enjoy in Seattle during this time of year.
Bellevue Botanical Garden
We're fortunate here in Seattle to be close to many expertly designed gardens that are beautiful year-round. Bellevue Botanical Garden is free and open every day from dawn till dusk.
Experience Pompeii at the Pacific Science Center
The Pompeii exhibition opened last weekend at the Pacific Science Center and features beautifully preserved relics and human remains from the ancient town that was destroyed by a volcanic eruption 2,000 years ago. The exhibition runs until May 25th.
Lunar New Year Festival
Celebrate the Year of the Sheep in Seattle's International District! The celebration takes place on February 21st from 11am-4pm and features food, art, and stunning cultural performances. It's a truly amazing event.

Campus-Wide Events
President's Day
Classes will be cancelled and the Reidy will be closed in observation of this national holiday. President's day was originally established in 1885 to honor George Washington on his birthday (Feb. 22nd). The celebration was moved to the third Monday in February as part of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act which was established to create more three day weekends for workers in the U.S.

Valentine's Day Affirmations
Throughout the month of February, we will be appreciating each other by posting kind words of affirmation (anonymously or not) on the walls of the collegium. Paper and craft supplies will be available to create messages to be posted. Acknowledge fellow members as valuable parts of your campus community and know that you too are valued.
Hiring New CCLs!
