Rockbrook Read-A-Thon Wrap Up
What Comes Next?
This year's Read-A-Thon was a little different than it has been in previous years. As we learned from home, there was lots of time for reading. As we prepare to return materials you have a couple options for turning in Read-A-Thon materials (if you have lost yours, these can still be downloaded below).
- Reading Minute Logs can be turned in with your school return bag, or you can take a picture using your iPad and send these to Mr. Higginbotham (higginbotham.garret@westside66.net).
- You can also turn in any pledges and pledge monies this way, as well as book drawing coupons.
- Once we have all the results in, we'll send out announcements about our top minutes read and top funds raised.
- If you have a book certificate we'll be honoring these as soon as we are able to have students return.
Most importantly, how can you keep reading? For families looking to keep their young readers active we have a couple of options:
- The Rockbrook Summer Challenge encourages students to continue their reading this summer with books you may have in your home.
- Students choosing to hold on to their iPad through June continue to have access to many of the district resources such as e-books and online platforms.
- Many of these platforms can currently be accessed for free from your personal devices as well. (Westside Summer Learning Resources)
- The Book Brigade Flyer below will be updated as future opportunities for students and families to obtain books are available.
No matter how you do it, keeping minds active in these summer months gives us a head start when school begins in the fall. We hope you'll enjoy one of these or other options to keep reading an important part of your child's routine!
