Davis Primary
Valentine’s Day Celebration
We will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 12th at Davis. Students may bring in Valentine’s to share with the class, but we ask that you send those Valentines to school NO LATER than February 9th so they have some time to safely sit before students open them on the 12th. Valentine’s can be accompanied with a small trinket, but NO food/candy can be accepted or passed out. We appreciate your understanding. Look for more information from your child’s classroom teacher in their weekly newsletters.
Thank you PTO!
Thank you to the PTO for funding our virtual author visit with Melissa Stewart! Our first graders loved talking with her and asking her lots of questions about her books (she has written 194!). She also gave our students some tips to help their own writing. She inspired all of them to become writers and scientists!

Bucket Filler February
The theme for the month at Davis is kindness and friendship. We are building off the "Bucket fillers, dippers and lids" book to support our theme. Our daily announcements will come from "The ABC's of Bucket Filling" and teachers will be teaching our students how to be bucket fillers during the morning meeting with students. Our students are so excited to fill each other’s buckets with kind words and actions.

The Paparazzi Team
This is a new team of Richmond 5th graders taking pictures of the exciting things happening in their classrooms. Students take pictures to capture both the learning and fun taking place. You can see the Paparazzi photos on our FaceBook page. We post new photos weekly. Later in the year, our 4th and 3rd graders will have an opportunity to become Paparazzi. Here are a few recent pictures:
5th Grade Families
Band & Choir as Middle School Electives
Any and all current 5th-grade students are welcome to sign up for Band and Choir in middle school, even if they did not do band or choir this year as a 5th-grader. Students in middle school will be allowed to play band instruments and sing at school as long as the health situation continues to improve.
Band instrument selection will take place prior to the start of the 6th-grade school year for those who are new to band, as well as for any band member that would like to switch to a wind instrument next year (oboe, flute, clarinet, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba).
More information will be communicated about the band instrument selection process this spring. If you have further questions, please contact the band teacher at jennifer.lydigsen@d303.org. Thank you.
