COAT DRIVE
Highlands Senior Class will host a Coat Drive on behalf of Allegheny Valley Association of Churches on Saturday, Oct. 25 at the High School from 10AM to 1PM. Just pull up in the turnaround and a student will collect your new or gently used coats.
The Allegheny County Health Department provided local schools with information about the enterovirus you may have read or heard about in the news. Tarentum Area Lions Club will be collecting used Eye Glasses in each district building! Send your used specs or drop them off to any building to be recycled for those in need! Donations being accepted now!

Ghost Stories in the Park will be on Friday, October 24 at 7 PM in Harrison Hills Park, Environmental Learning Center, with Alison Babusci, Pittsburgh storyteller, artist and teacher. Appropriate for ages 5-105. Wear a Halloween costume for a chance to win a prize. All children ages 5 to 12 will receive a surprise gift. For further information call 412-586-8367.
Electronics & Data Destruction Recycling Event - First United Presbyterian Church in Tarentum is hosting an electronics and data destruction recycling event from 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, October 25. Items such as desktop computers, laptops, tablets, servers, hard drives, LCD monitors, various computer peripherals, and phone systems will be accepted FREE of charge. On-site data destruction will be offered for $10 per hard drive. Other items such as A/V equipment, VCRs, sweepers, microwaves and various consumer electronics will be accepted for a $10 disposal charge.
Relay for Life Fundraiser: The Highlands Relay for Life is having a fundraiser on Saturday, October 25 from 1-3 pm at the Creative Canvas, located at 3041 Freeport Rd. (in the former Lieberth Dealership building next to Sunoco and across from DRZ and Pizza Hut in Natrona Heights). Cost is $40 plus tax. Come have a fun and paint a fall picture. Snacks will be provided. BYOB. Register on the Creative Canvas website at www.creativecanvas.info. A limited amount of seats are available.
Rotary Club Tailgate Party at Brackenridge American Legion on Sunday, Nov. 9. Pool Squares pay cash for every score, quarter & grand prize. Tickets - Party w/ pool square $30 in advance, $35 at door. Comedy Night Fundraiser: The Competition Cheer Squad Parent Boosters Group is hosting the 3rd Annual Funny Fundraiser at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Patterson Hall, 1526 Union Ave., Natrona Heights on Saturday, Nov. 8. Salvation Army Afterschool Clubs: Looking for a great afterschool program? Check out the Salvation Army Free Afterschool Clubs on Wednesdays. Transportation available by request.
