Stoney Creek News
November 5. 2021
From the Principal
Dear Families,
Happy November to all of you and I am sure you are as shocked as we are at how fast our time with your children is going. We have learned so much about them already and are hoping that they are loving school.
There are a few reminders that I need to make in this newsletter:
- Please continue to send your child to school with masks each day. We go through a box a day which is very costly to our district. There are many in the lost and found if they are missing one, but we need to follow the guidelines by our health department and MASKS are still required for our students. If you'd like to make a donation, reach out to Mrs. Jackson
- If you send someone else to drop off your children to school or pick them up from school please remind them of our expectations to stay in the car in the line and move to a parking spot to buckle. It is in the best interest of our students and the safety of our crew that all drivers follow the rules.
- Please read our emails, newsletters and check out the facebook messages for important information. With the weather turning colder, snow days might occur and we want to make sure you all have the correct information.
- Now that it is colder, please send your child to school with proper clothing items. Coats, boots, snow pants are necessary for them to play on the playground. If you are having troubling obtaining those items, please reach out to your child's teacher or the office. We have been given several items to share with families in need. LABEL everything that your child wears to school....we can return it to you if write their name in them!!!
A Message from our Nurse Heather Norman:
If your student needs to have medications during the school day, FDA approved medications must be brought to the office in the original medication container and a signed medication consent form must be filled out. Medication Consent Form. Only parent signature is required for over the counter medications. Students should not be carrying medications with them or in their backpacks.
Thank you for sending us your very best! Enjoy your weekend!

Volunteer Application
MASKS
The Kent County Health Department order “requiring people in pre-kindergarten through grade six consistently and properly wear a facial covering while inside any enclosed building or structure of the institution” remains in effect and bears the force of law. Gov. Whitmer, when signing the budget you referenced, said the language prohibiting local public health departments from issuing public health orders requiring masks for individuals under the age of 18 was unconstitutional. Should the health department rescind its order, or the courts rule the language you reference does in fact prohibit health departments from issuing masking orders, we will comply with the law at that time. Until then, we remain bound by the August 20 public health order, which requires masks to be worn by all individuals in Pre-K through 6th grade classrooms/buildings until 60 days after a vaccine has been approved for children under the age of 12.
