Big picture

Congratulations, IB Seniors!

We are finally here ... the last month of the 2022-23 school year and the final month of secondary schooling for our fabulous Class of 2023. These IB graduates were celebrated at the annual IB Dinner on April 26. We wanted to share with all of you a few of the highlights, as well as the slide that each senior prepared to represent themself. Click on each slide image to enlarge it.

IB Exams: May 2-19

IB exams began this week. Students in the following courses have completed all (or most) of each of their exams:

  • Sports, Exercise, and Health Science SL
  • Language A: Literature HL
  • Language A: Language and Literature HL
  • Social and Cultural Anthropology HL and SL
  • Environmental Systems and Societies SL (Paper 1)

Students have been nothing short of amazing this week. They've been on time, well prepared, and worked so very hard through each of the exams. Keep it up for two more weeks!

Graduation Practice for IB Spanish SL/HL Students

This year, graduation practice will take place on the morning of May 16. All IB Spanish students will be taking exams from 8:00-11:00/11:15 that morning, which will cause them to miss the whole school practice. Dr. White has arranged for a bus to transport these 27 students to Hy-Vee Arena at 12:15. They will practice and return to Northtown around 1:15pm.

IB Score Reports (Seniors Only)

We have shared a link with seniors that allows them to identify the post-secondary institution they would like their IB scores sent to upon their release in July*. Please check with your student to ensure they've provided that information to us. We can send one report free of charge. After May 30, the $17 cost of sending that report becomes the responsibility of the student. This is the only form in which most colleges/universities will accept IB scores. They do not accept paperwork from the student.

*Note: Final score reports are typically sent from IB to colleges/universities in mid to late August.

Meeting for Families of 10th Grade Soon-to-Be IB Students

On May 2, at 6:00pm, we held a virtual meeting for families of students who will enter the IB Program next year. A recording of that meeting can be found below, along with the presentation that was shared with families. All students need to have a signed Agreement of Understanding on file. That document is also linked below.
