Hello from the front office!
A Letter from Mrs. Boulanger
Riverview Parents and Guardians,
I am excited to work with you and your child this year. Although our learning will be different this fall, I look forward to learning and growing together. As the School Counselor of Riverview Elementary School, I would like to introduce you to our guidance and counseling program which I will be actively promoting. I hope the following information is helpful.
Elementary guidance consists of working with students to help them develop academically, personally, and socially. As a School Counselor, I facilitate classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and work with students individually.
Guidance classes are an integral part of the curriculum. By providing information through guidance class, hopefully future issues can be prevented. Throughout the year, I will meet with each classroom every other week to facilitate activities and related discussions. In addition to guidance class, kindergarten students will have weekly SEFEL (Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning) lessons. These times are designed to promote academic learning as well as personal and social growth.
As a parent, you are a very important part of the school's guidance and counseling program. Please ask your child what was discussed in guidance class. This is a great way to review what he/she learned in class and lets your child know you are interested in what he/she is learning at school. Most importantly, this will allow you and your child an opportunity to discuss some very important topics. Please contact me if you have any concerns regarding your child. Thank you!

Ready for School Parent, Student & Teacher Meetings
The purpose of these scheduled 30 minute meetings are to provide materials including an iPad and charger and curriculum resources, go over expectations and schedules, discuss attendance and grading, make sure you and your child understand how to access the content and learning, and to get to know everyone a little better. We may also have some paperwork for families to take and complete.
If you are not comfortable attending your conference in person, we will happily schedule this meeting in a virtual manner. It will still be important that you schedule a time through the link provided so that we have a time reserved for you. We will then ask that you call school or contact your child’s teacher to indicate your preference for a virtual meeting. Your child’s teacher will send you a link to attend. If attending virtually, we will also need to set up a time for you to pick up your child’s device and materials at school so you would have them prior to the meeting.
We want to meet you in person if possible. However, we also want to do everything we can to help keep our community safe and healthy. The following will be required for all in attendance:
Wear a mask at all times.
Six feet of social distancing.
Avoid congregating with others in the hallway or parking lots.
We are also requesting that only the student and one parent attend the meeting. We understand that education takes partnership between parents, teachers, and family members, so if there are other adults that wish to partake in the meeting, we can provide that opportunity virtually.
Please use the following doors when entering and exiting the building:
Grade 4K - Door 7
Grades kindergarten, 2nd, and 3rd - Door 1 (main entrance)
Grade 1 - Door 8
Grades 4 & 5 - Door 2
