Glover Gazette
January 13, 2023
Dear Glover Families,
It has been a busy week here at Glover. We would like to thank the PTO for offering two enrichment opportunities for students through an in school visit from the Acton Discovery Museum. Students in kindergarten participated in the hands on activity Forces and Motion first grade was able to explore lights and lasers.
Today, we had our monthly Glover Gathering hosted by our second graders. Our character trait for December was focused on a growth mindset. Children learned about this on our morning announcements and today from the second grade. A growth mindset means that your brain can grow and you can learn many new things. Second graders did a wonderful job teaching us an engaging song about positive affirmations and also the alphabet as it pertains to having a growth mindset. These monthly gatherings are a nice way to bring our school community together. If your child is participating in sharing or presenting, your child’s classroom teachers will reach out to invite you. It was nice to see many of our second grade parents in attendance to watch this morning. Our new character trait starting next week will be empathy.
Since winter vacation, many children have come to school with Apple Watches. We have some students that are receiving texts and alerts on their watches during class, which can be very distracting. Many children have these devices set on school mode and may only use it as a clock at school. Apple Watches will be allowed, as long as they are in school mode. If students are receiving texts or going online, they will be asked to bring the watch to the office and we will call home.We appreciate your support as we want to ensure that children are not distracted during the school day.
Thank you for all of your support of Glover. We know how important the home/school connection can be and are appreciative that we have an actively involved PTO and parent community.
Best,
Hope Doran
