Lewis Ledger - Week 8

September 16, 2018

Sunny Heights is where everyone is valued and respected. Our vision is to inspire a passion for learning in a student-centered, family friendly environment.

Week 8

We have 15 days of school before our first intersession. It is hard to believe how quickly this year is moving. Our focus will continue to be a Tier I instruction (Academic & Behavior) moving forward. Please continue to welcome your students each day and model positivity in your classrooms. I appreciate all that you do!

SHOUT OUTS

Shout Out to all that participated in Crush all Cancer week here at Sunny Heights! We raised $125 for cancer research (not including the $ from those that purchased shirts)! Thank you to those that added to the I Stand For powerpoint as well!

Shout Out to Aaron Gilbert and family in welcoming their little bundle of joy Parker!! Welcome to the newest member of the Sunny Heights family!

Shout Out to Shirley for ordering and delivering extra shirts for others at school. Thank you!

Data Blast

We have collected quite a bit of data for the month of August (NWEA, EOM, Discipline data, Attendance data, observational data, and other classroom data). Data is worthless without action. Think about the what action steps you have taken based on data collected. Are there areas where action should be taken? What support might you need for implementation?

Attendance Status

KG:97.04% 1st: 95.69% 2nd: 94.71% 3rd: 96.0% 4th: 96.83% SH Total: 96.06%

GREAT news...Student attendance was up over 1/2 a percent this week!! Keep reminding students the importance of being at school EVERYDAY!

End of Module Assessments End of Module Eureka assessments have been completed. Please complete the EOM Data Survey. This data will be important as we work through Edulastic (2nd grade will use Module 2 data).

Parent Teacher Conferences It is hard to believe but Parent Teacher conferences are right around the corner (October 2, 11-7pm)! Forms should be going home with students on Monday (if not already). Our goal is 100%...the value of these conferences is immense as we build relationships with our students and families.

New Web Filter On September 17th all Chromebooks in grades 1-4 will move to iBoss Web filter from the current provider Securly. iBoss has been piloted at the high school since May with success. The Chromebooks will install iBoss automatically when turned on and will begin filtering immediately. The rest of the district will transition over fall break. This is includes all computer labs, Staff computers, and iPads.

Social Emotional Learning Tip of the Week

I shared this article via Twitter this weekend, then had it shared with me by a teacher....very good reminder for all of us of how we set the tone of our relationship with students.

Big picture

Resources & Reminders

Tier I Classroom PBIS - Continue to practice PBIS Tier I at the classroom level. Reach out to the committee for questions or clarification. It is very important that we commit to the process and provide consistency for EVERYONE. We will see the results that we are striving for if everyone is committed to being part of the TEAM!

Social Studies & Reading Support - If you would like me to come in to teach a social studies lesson for your class, please let me know a time, day, and topic that would work. Also, let me know if you would like me to come read a story to your class.

Professional Growth - A couple reminders in regards to professional growth expectations: PGP points should be uploaded into your SFS so that they can be applied to your evaluation; everyone should have a professional learning goal that they have set with Mercedes.

The Safe Schools - Remember to complete your required trainings. Safe Schools Directions & Link (Link to the Login Procedures) The Blood Borne Pathogens training is the first one required.
