Congratulations to the Cambridge FFA Chapter for its success at the 93rd Virtual National FFA Convention last week.
Cambridge FFA was recognized as a Premier Chapter for its activity “The FFA Member Telethon.” They were chosen as one of ten chapters in the nation to compete for this award.
Emily Phillips a senior at Cambridge was recognized as a National Proficiency Finalist for her dedication to her Supervised Agricultural Experience in Veterinary Science. Emily has excelled in her job at a local veterinary clinic and was chosen as a "top four" member in the nation for her project.
The Occurrence at Sleepy Hollow
This past weekend, the Bridge Ensemble at Cambridge High School brought the town of Sleepy Hollow and the tale of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horsman to life on our school’s Cross Country Trails to a ‘Sold Out’ audience in The Occurrence at Sleepy Hollow based on the story by Washington Irving, and adapted by Cambridge Theatre and Dramatic Writing students. Audiences departed into the performance six people at a time, masked, on October 31, and watched nine scenes unfold. Cambridge Theatre adjusted to performance in a time of pandemic deftly, in addition to navigating torrential rains, a Covid shutdown, and Zeta, but still believing that “the show must go on” no matter what obstacles land in our path. We hope to have a virtual version of this production available soon for those who were not able to attend in person.
We look forward to our next project – our GHSA Contest Play – a title still be determined – which all students are eligible to audition for. More information on that production will be coming soon and can be found via our social media and our website: www.cambridgetheatre.org.

College Application Procedures
Seniors,
Teachers and counselors require ten (10) school days to process transcript requests, school forms, and recommendation letters. Requesting documents the day of or less than ten school days ahead of when they are due will result in missed deadlines.
For college application deadlines of January 1, 2021, through January 8, 2021, the counseling department will need all requests submitted by December 1, 2020. Keep in mind that the counseling office is closed during the holiday break and weekends.
Important:
- Seniors should add colleges to Naviance as soon as they know which colleges they are applying to and request transcripts more than ten days in advance of when they are needed.
- When applying to a college through the Common App., make sure that you have matched your Common App. account to Naviance.
- Seniors can continue working on college applications until the deadline, but the counseling department will need requested documents ten school days or earlier than the deadline. Working on college applications have no bearing on the counseling department submitting requested documents as long as the college receives all the parts by the deadline.
- After submitting all documents, track their status in Common App., Naviance, or for a non-Common App. college in the college's own portal.
Teacher recommendations:
- Seniors should ask a teacher first before requesting a recommendation from that teacher. They have to agree to write a recommendation for you.
- Once the teacher has agreed to write the recommendation, request the recommendation in Naviance for each college that requires a teacher recommendation. Not every college requires a teacher recommendation.
- Limit your requested teacher recommendations to the number that each college requires. For example, do not ask ten teachers to write a recommendation when the college you are applying to only accepts two recommendations.
Senior Information Sheet:
- If you have not already done so, make sure you have submitted the Senior Information Sheet to your counselor by completing the paper form or submitting the Senior Information Survey in Naviance.
If you need help with any of these processes, please reach out to your counselor and request a meeting or a call.

Dual Enrollment Second Semester Registration - Deadline Extended to November 4
The enrollment process is now open for students who wish to participate in dual enrollment classes next semester. We have extended the deadline for submission in light of power outages due to the storm last week.

- First-time dual enrollment students wishing to participate next semester should request an appointment with their counselor to discuss the necessary steps for enrolling for the spring semester.
- All students must apply to the college (if required) and submit their signed Student Advisement Form no later than Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Forms received after this date will not be accepted.
Please contact your school counselor for more information or visit the Cambridge Counseling website for Dual Enrollment information, including the Young Harris College Spring 2021 class offerings (online and face to face courses taught via Teams.)
School Picture Day
School picture day is Thursday, November 5, 2020, for 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students. Face to Face students will have their picture taken during their English classes. All students will be required to wear a mask; however, you may remove it when seated for your picture.
Our Remote and Virtual students will have pictures taken after school using the following schedule. Remote students will enter through the side door next to the main gym and enter the aux gym for pictures. Once they are finished, students will exit out the side door at the end of the hall. Please refer to the schedule below for your specific time frame. Last names beginning with:

E - K from 4:00 - 4:30 pm
L - Q from 4:30 - 5:00 pm
R - Z from 5:00 - 5:30 pm
If our Remote students are uncomfortable with having their picture taken on campus, please utilize one of the additional options listed below:
1. We can use your photo from last year. Please note: this only applies to students who were enrolled at Cambridge the previous year. Current freshmen will not have this option.
2. Take your own formal picture and send it to our yearbook staff using EZPIX. A detailed announcement for using the EZPIX option is forthcoming and will be sent from Balfour directly to parents and guardians.
To be in this year's yearbook, you must have your picture taken. A makeup session is scheduled for December 15, 2020.
FCS Device Inventory - November 5
Since devices were not collected at the end of last school year, we must take an inventory of all FCS devices checked out to Cambridge students. Inventory will be taken on Thursday, November 5.
- 9th – 11th-grade Face to Face students
Inventory will be taken at the same time these students have their school pictures taken during their English classes. Students will take their FCS issued devices when they go to the Aux Gym for pictures. - 9th - 12th-grade Remote and Virtual students
Inventory will be taken based on the student's last name (see schedule below) in the Aux. Gym. 9th - 11th-grade students will also have their school pictures taken during this time. Students will arrive through the side door next to the main gym and enter the Aux. Gym.
A - D from 3:30 - 4:00 pm
E - K from 4:00 - 4:30 pm
L - Q from 4:30 - 5:00 pm
R - Z from 5:00 - 5:30 pm
Please review the following important information:
- Anyone who has an FCS device currently checked out and is not using it now is your chance to return it. Please bring the device and all accessories (charger & stylus) to picture/inventory day. Or you may return the device and accessories to the Student Center at any time. Receipts will be given either when returned or within a week, depending on how busy we are.
- Anyone who has an FCS device and may not use it all the time but still wants to keep it, please plan to bring your device to school on the designated picture/inventory day.
- For F2F Seniors, if your device was not inventoried on Monday, November 2 during advisement, you may bring your school device to the Student Center during the week of November 2 for inventory.
- For F2F 9th – 11th grade students, please bring your device to school on picture day, Thursday, November 5. You will go to the aux gym during your English class for pictures. Be sure to bring your school device at that time.
- For virtual students, please bring your device to your assigned picture time. Seniors, even though you don’t need your pictures taken, if you are a virtual student and you have an FCS device checked out, you need to bring your device for inventory.
If you do not feel comfortable coming to the school for inventory, you may send a picture of your device to Mrs. Morgan at MorganL1@fultonschools.org. The picture must include the Student Name Label and the FCS Device Barcode Label. For the Dell laptops, this may require two pictures.
Any questions, please contact Mrs. Morgan at morganl1@fultonschools.org.

Fulton County Schools Guidance on Grading
- Students will be eligible for one redo/retake who achieves a score of 89 or less.
- Students will be eligible to earn a replacement grade on a redo/retake with a score of no more than 89.
- Student redo/retakes must be completed ten (10) school days before the end of the semester.
- Quizzes are to be considered summative assessments and can be given and counted.
As students in Fulton County Schools (FCS) have begun returning to face-to-face instruction, several changes were implemented to ensure students, staff, and visitors' health and safety. Among the most vital of these changes is developing and introducing a new electronic FCS COVID-19 Reporting Portal for parents. This electronic reporting process will allow for a more direct reaction from primarily the Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) with support from FCS to promptly respond and address student/family cases of COVID-19.

Fulton Virtual and Georgia Virtual Classes
Virtual class reminders:
- If your student is taking semester one (A) of an online class (FVS or GAVS), they should now register for the second semester (B) of that class as soon as possible.
- If your student is in an online semester-long class, they will need to register for a second semester-long class.
This is especially important for seniors since we need to make sure all classes a senior is taking are on his/her transcript for graduation purposes and accurately depict the senior year schedule when sending transcripts to colleges.
If you need any assistance with registration, please email your school counselor.
Georgia Scholars - Application Now Available
Through the Georgia Scholar program, the Georgia Department of Education identifies and honors high school seniors who have achieved excellence in school and community life. Each Georgia Scholar receives a seal for his or her diploma.
Students eligible for Georgia Scholar recognition are high school seniors who exhibit excellence in all phases of school life, in community activities, and in the home. Georgia Scholars are students who have carried exemplary course loads during the four years of high school; who performed excellently in all courses; who successfully participated in interscholastic events at their schools and in their communities; and who have assumed active roles in extracurricular activities sponsored by their schools.
The recognition is open to any student who qualifies. No monetary award is attached to this program. If you are interested in applying for this recognition, please see or email your school counselor by November 20, 2020.
