Important August Dates

Getting ready to go back to school

The first day of school is August 20th.

We've begun our back to school countdown! We hope you've had a relaxing summer and you're excited to start a new school year. Your teachers are hard at work planning for your fall classes and we look forward to seeing all of you soon.

Some of you have requested extra copies of the orientation packet and summer assignment. I've attached them at the bottom of this newsletter. You still have some time to complete your summer assignment before we head back to our classrooms.

Grant High School Freshman Orientation on August 15th.

Many of you were able to attend the new student orientation for Humanitas Magnet students. We also encourage you to attend the orientation for Grant High School. This event is open to all families of incoming 9th graders at Grant High School. I recommend arriving a little early to find parking.

Grant High School Freshman Picnic on August 16th

The Freshman Picnic is a tradition at Grant High School. All incoming freshmen (just students, no parents) are invited to attend a morning of ice breakers, activities, and important information. At the end of the day, students will be able to pick up their textbooks and class schedules. You will need to have your completed Emergency Information Form and lunch application to receive your schedule and textbooks.

What do you need for the first day of school?

1. Your completed summer assignment

Lockers won't be distributed until the second week of school so a backpack will come in handy.
