Walk-A-Thon
The Walkathon is the Home & School Club’s largest annual fundraiser. All proceeds directly support HSC-funded enrichment programs at Lietz, including Art Vistas, Project Cornerstone, Create with Clay, and more. Join us at our kick-off assembly on Sept. 13 at 8:15 to learn more, including our exciting theme this year!
Seussical Jr.!
Drama Club is quickly approaching. Registration will end on Sept. 12th. This year's musical will be Seussical The Musical. There will be lots of catchy music and Dr. Seuss stories with a wonderful message of inclusion and acceptance. Drama Club is for grades 3-5.
Check out this flier if you are interested!
Walk n' Roll
Walk n' Roll Wednesdays official kick off will be Wednesday, September 11th! Walk, Roll, Carpool or Park more than 3 blocks away. All students who participate will be entered in a weekly drawing for fun prizes! This year, Student Ambassadors will be taking over Walk n' Roll duties. We will be at the purple tables and at the kinder entrance Wednesday before school giving out raffle tickets. Look for us!
P.A.W.S.
Lietz is in its third year of a School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Support program. Your child may have talked about PAWS, which is our acronym for the behavior expectations that we have for every student.
P - Problem Solve
A - Act Respectfully
W - Wise Choices
S - Spread Kindness
Students receive verbal praise, and may also receive a “gotcha ticket” called a PAWS ticket. The tickets function as a reminder, and a raffle ticket for a weekly drawing. Most importantly, “Specific praise is extremely important in increasing the re-occurrence of appropriate behavior.”(https://www.pbis.org/school/tier1supports).

Parenting with Positive Discipline Classes at Lietz
This once-monthly FREE Positive Discipline parenting workshop will cover the basic philosophy and give you tools that you can use right away. First class will take place on Sept. 18 from 7:00-8:30pm in the Lietz Staff Lounge.
Positive Discipline is for parents who are looking for research-based, long-term parenting skills that will encourage their children to become independent thinkers, become more responsible, and show greater respect for themselves and others.
Please note, parents from neighboring school, Noddin Elementary will also be joining. If you are interested in attending, please email LopezS@unionsd.org. Snacks will be provided.
