Citenzenship
In Rome, only white males were citizens, while in the U.S.A., everyone has some kind of rights. Citizens in Rome, were able to vote, hold officials office, and own property. Even women citizens didn't have the same rights as the white males, in Rome. Slaves had no rights. The hierarchy a child was born from is there permanant status while in the U.S.A., a person can go down or up in their social ladder.
Law
Laws were written, like today, but in Rome they were written in the twelve tables. Laws gave citizens rights connected to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. The laws were focoused on marrige, inherritance, and contracts between people, but slaves didnt have these rights. Everyone in the U.S.A. have the same rights and laws, but some are treated diffrently for being illegal.
Justice
Judges made court decisions from trials and evidence, like today. The punishment is fit to the crime commited for both Rome and the U.S.A. The punishments the Romans had were beatings, banishment, slavery, and fines. One of the big punishments were execution, if guilty of treason and patricide. If a person killed their father, they were to be drowned in a river. Meanwhile in the U.S.A., they have banishments, beatings, fines, and very rarely they get executed.
