Elizabeth Jackson: New Principal at Timrod Elementary School
Elizabeth Jackson, Assistant Principal at Timrod Elementary, has been named the school’s new principal. She replaces Michelle McBride who recently became Assistant Superintendent for K-5 Instruction in Florence 1 Schools.
Jackson, who has 28 years of educational experience, all of which with the exception of one year, have been at Timrod. At the start of her career at Timrod, she taught first grade. She has also taught child development, kindergarten, second and third grade at Timrod. In addition to having served at Timrod as Assistant Principal, Jackson also worked as Instructional Coach and Curriculum Coordinator.
She received both the Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Education degree in Learning Disabilities from Francis Marion University. She also holds a Master of Educational Leadership from Coastal Carolina University.
Jackson is also recognized as a National Board Certified Teacher as an Early Childhood Generalist. Jackson's appointment was approved by the Board of Trustees at the April 16 meeting upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, Dr. Richard O'Malley.

Florence 1 Schools Administrative Assistant Is a Book Author
Florence 1 School Administrative Assistant Keyon M. James is also the author of a book. James, who has spent time working at Fortune 500 companies, has provided an enticing read for working people regarding how to obtain success not only in the corporate world, but also in any general workplace. The book title is The Right Balance to Your Brew.
Like an employee’s perfect cup of coffee, James informs the reader that finding the perfect balance to one’s behavioral brew in the workplace takes skill, discernment and the proper judgment. A full critique of her book is offered in this month's edition of Diversity Works Magazine.
James' book signing event had to be cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the book is available through Amazon.
