Grants and Donations (5.1)
USD 231 is proud of our partnerships with many stakeholders (students, parents, employees, churches, local vendors, etc.). Often, due to these partnerships, our students and employees are the recipients of generous donations.

Proposed Edgerton Rural Housing Incentive (8.1)
Tiffany Morawiec, Director of Business and Finance, shared information about the proposed housing incentive in Edgerton, Kansas.
A Rural Housing Incentive District (RHID) is an option in cities that have a population of 60,000 or under. They are developed to assist the town and developer at the same time. In this case, the developer proposed 275 homes over four phases. The infrastructure needed to develop roads, sewers, and water is estimated to cost $30 million. The developer has asked the city of Edgerton to cover half of this cost. To do so, the City files for an RHID which has to be submitted through the Secretary of Commerce. The City will hold a public hearing to determine if this RHID is approved.
How does this impact our schools? It is reasonable to assume there will be an increase in student enrollment due to the development. For the 2023-24 school year, we estimate an increase in funding of approximately $30,000. Unfortunately, this RHID does not consider any increased costs for the district due to staffing, salaries, maintenance, etc.
