Principal's Letter
Dear Families:
I hope this greeting finds you and your family safe and well.
I am happy to report that we are off to a great start to the 2020-2021 school year. We welcomed our students who selected Full In-Person Instruction to the high school on Monday, October 5. In-person students are now joined by online and hybrid learners in all classes. We conducted a modified Spirit week during the week of October 5 to celebrate the fall season and the midway mark of the first quarter.
The following outlines some essential reminders that students must follow as members of the George W. Hewlett High School Learning Community.
· * Please complete the daily health screening each day AT LEAST 45 minutes prior to arrival. Students who are not on the list will be detained from entering the building until temperatures are taken and screening completed. . The portal can be accessed through this link: https://HealthOfficePortal.com/SHM_HewlettWoodmere_Public_Schools/Portal/Login.aspx
· * Masks must be worn whenever students are on the grounds of the high school. Students will wear a mask throughout the day in the hall and classroom. Appropriate mask breaks will be given based upon the direction of classroom teachers.
· * It is expected that students will maintain appropriate social distancing in the halls, stairways and in open spaces both inside and outside of the building.
· *Each classroom has desks/tables with barriers to further support the safety and wellness of students. Students are reminded to keep masks on in classes even when shielded by desk barriers.
· * Students are expected to be respectful and compliant with all teacher expectations, including course obligations and while participating in online instruction.
· * During free periods, students may use the cafeteria, internet café, and library to study or have something to eat. Each location has seating available for students with appropriate social distancing and adult supervision.
· * Parents are encouraged to be in frequent and on-going communication with their child’s teachers now and throughout the remainder of the year to best support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
Thank you for your continued support and adherence to the health and safety protocols outlined above. We look forward to a rewarding 2020-2021 school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teachers, counselor, or building administration.
Remain safe and stay well.
Yours truly,
William R. Galati, Ed.D.

Virtual Enterprise
The Virtual Enterprise class is excited to announce that it has started two new businesses this year, DigiScribe and Pockits. Employees are busy working on all the tasks needed for a start-up business and look forward to a productive and profitable year.
DigiScribe is a company whose mission is to make writing more easy and efficient, while eliminating the use of paper. We offer pens, scanners and translating devices, which all operate digitally and provide downloadable material via USB. There is certainly a need for these products in this ever-evolving technological climate. More and more businesses and people are moving towards a fully-digital operation, but many still crave the ability to handwrite. DigiScribe gives customers the best of both worlds in that they can enjoy the benefits of handwriting and keeping organized on the computer. The company is socially responsible by reducing and eliminating the use of paper. The primary cause of deforestation is paper production. DigiScribe aspires to save the trees while creating modern and efficient writing tools.
Pockits ensure convenience at the most necessary times by bringing an all-in-one product to their customers for all of life's un-expectancies. The team is determined, hardworking, and motivated to produce quality products and customer service to its consumers. A mulit-purpose tool that resembles a Swiss Army Knife, Pockits are made to aid people in emergency, on-the-go situations. It provides regular and premium Pockits for categories including COVID-19, school essential, sexual assault, sewing, makeup, and hygiene. Each Pockit includes three or more travel size products that are quick and easy to use. The company currently has an Instagram page, @_Pockits_ loaded with information and updates. We are working on getting our website up and running as soon as possible.
