Mr. Holt's Notes
Please check out our PTA's amazing Facebook page!
As fun as Halloween is at night during social times it makes for a very distracting learning environment. Please do not wear costumes to school next week. But if you would like a social gathering to show off a costume come join DHE at SKATELAND on October 29th @ 6pm.
November 1st- Our PTA is hosting this year's first All Pro Dad's breakfast. It will begin at 7am and you can enter through the cafeteria doors since it will begin before school hours. At this All Pro Dad's breakfast I was asked to pass along the info that Chic-Fil-A breakfast items as well as the Chic-Fil-A cow will be here.
Book Recommendation:
How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night?
Tuck your child in and snuggle up for a bedtime story as the ten dinosaur children of this New York Times bestseller tell you how they say goodnight. Whether it's pouting or throwing his teddy bear around, demanding a piggyback ride or another book, each little dino eventually tucks in his tail and says goodnight.
Transitional Transfer (4th Grade to 5th Grade Info)
A message for the families of Harrison Elementary School Dear Harrison families: Each year, SPS fifth-graders and eighth-graders have the opportunity to request a transitional transfer to the middle school or high school of their choice for the next school year. For the 2020-2021 school year, transitional transfer requests may be submitted between 7:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, and 4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2. Requests are granted on a first come, first served basis determined by an electronic time/date stamp. In order for a request to be approved, there must be space available at the requested school. Due to current and projected high enrollment, Cherokee Middle School will be closed to all transfers for sixth-graders, beginning with the 2020-2021 school year. Cherokee enrollment will be monitored to determine when it might be reopened for transitional transfers in the future. Immediate transfer requests for seventh grade and eighth grade will still be accepted, as space allows. A transitional transfer request is for a student going from fifth grade to sixth grade, or eighth grade to ninth grade, who wishes to attend a school other than the one determined by their home address. This type of transfer is an option as part of SPS’ open enrollment. If your student is interested in this option for the 2020-2021 school year, you must submit your request online. You will be notified no later than Dec. 2 of the status of your transfer request. For more information, click here. Sincerely, Josh Holt Principal (417) 523-5800 3055 W. Kildee Lane Springfield, MO 65810
