Attention Readers!

Puckett's Mill Relay for Life Team is having a Used Book Sale and we need book donations to make this successful. If you have gently used books at home and want to make room for new books, we will be accepting donations all next week (January 11-15). Collection boxes will be in your teacher's classroom. During the week of January 25th, each class will have an opportunity to purchase books for only $1.00 each. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life.

GA Milestones Study Guides

Georgia Milestones study guide are now available from the GA DOE. They have been posted online through the link below. This is a great resource in preparing students for the upcoming test in April.

Upcoming and Continuing Units of Study

Reading

We are finishing up our unit on Non-Fiction Text. The Unit Assessment will be Thursday.

Writing

We are working on making sure we can vary the sentences we write by using simple, compound, and complex sentences correctly.

Word Study

New vocabulary terms with the prefixes 'uni-', 'mono-', 'bi-' and 'tri-' were introduced this week. The test over these words (Sort 25) will be Wednesday.

Math

We will be continuing dividing with unit fractions and whole numbers. In fifth grade, students do not need to know how to divide fractions by fractions. They are only responsible for knowing how to divide with unit fractions (any fraction with a numerator of 1) and whole numbers. The Quarter 3 Math Resource Round-Up has been started and linked below. Be sure to check this document frequently as it is updated as we move through the Quarter 3 units. The test is tentatively scheduled for Friday, January 22nd.

Science/Social Studies

We will be starting our Sum of Parts Unit in science this week. This unit is a very short one due to the content being taught. A quiz is tentatively scheduled for Friday, January 22nd.
