CARLSON COURIER
Home of the Champions
Hello Champions,
I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the weekend. We must have blinked because just like that April is in the bag and we officially have 19 school days left. Also, it looks like we are at the point where it will be in the mid to upper 90’s from here on out. So please remind your student(s) to bring their water bottles and drink plenty of water throughout the day. If they run out, we have 6 touchless water bottle filling stations they can use to refill their bottles throughout the day.
The week ahead is dedicated to our amazing Carlson teachers that have endured so much this year. Our PTO, with your help, has some fun festivities and meals planned to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. They say, "a truly great teacher is hard to find, difficult to part with, and impossible to forget." Thank you teachers for all you do each and every day to make the lives of our students brighter. You are all so deserving of this week and much more for the greatness you pour into the hearts and minds of all your students each and everyday. On behalf of our students, parents, and community, happy teacher appreciation week.
OK, this past Friday the acts that were selected for the first ever (and hopefully last) virtual talent show were announced. Congratulations to all our students that will be recording their performance for the school and parents to view on May 20th. And a special thank you to all the students that had the courage to try out this year, we applaud you and encourage you to keep practicing and try again next year.
For the week ahead, KG - 3rd grade students will be taking their last Dibels (Literacy Screener) assessment for the year. Also, 1st - 6th grades will have one last district benchmark in the coming weeks. And if you received a summer school invite and are interested in attending please reach out to your child's teacher so we can get you signed up. Just a heads up so you aren't alarmed. You may see a drone flying over Carlson on Tuesday morning and afternoon. We have Chandler Education TV coming to capture some video footage and images of the school. They do this periodically for all sites to update websites and media files. On Thursday, our 4th graders will be getting a special performance from our Band and Orchestra directors, Mr. Abrahamson and Mrs. Hormiere. They will be showcasing band and orchestra for incoming 5th graders that are interested in being in either elective. Students that participate in these programs have gone on to successful careers in both Junior High and High school; some even earning full ride scholarships to college. Looking forward to another great week.
Sincerely,
Mr. Morgan
Important Reminders/Updates
Outstanding Fees/Fines
Even though we did not assign or collect any fees this year, there are still many students with fees from previous years. These do roll over and for anyone moving to Junior High they need to be resolved before the end of the year. Please take a minute to log in to your parent portal and check your child's status. PARENT PORTAL
Kindergarten PromotionThe schedule is being finalized and will be sent out this week. Due to safety guidelines we will be doing multiple sessions to avoid having large gatherings. These will take place during the week and not on the last day. More to come.
