Patriot Day
Please wear red, white, and blue on Monday, September 11th.
Patriot Day: "In 2014, the United States designated September 11 as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance to remember the victims of the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001. Citizens observe the occasion by flying the flag of the United States at half-staff, observing a moment of silence at 8:46 AM, holding memorial ceremonies for victims, and participating in volunteer and service opportunities.” ~ Discovery Education
After our joined moment of silence at 8:46 AM, read the following statement about 9/11 to your class (there is also a copy in your mailbox):
September 11th is known as Patriot Day. On this day we remember the people who made brave choices and showed great courage as our country was attacked on September 11th, 2001. The United States is proudly known as "the land of the free and the home of the brave." As we observe a minute of silence on this day, let us remember these people who were brave 16 years ago, and focus how we can be brave and have courage as we make choices today.
If you are wondering why are we reading this paragraph:
This is actually House Bill 1501 ruling.
