April Teacher Lesson of the Month

April's teacher lesson of the month was awarded to Ms. Modica for a lesson she created for her students to teach them about the effects of alcohol. Her student said, “I liked that we kind of had a perspective of what it is like to be drunk while driving. It was fun and engaging because we got to wear the night and day drunk goggles then walk, then drive a remote control car around cones. Definitely made us think about how a substance like alcohol effects the body." Great job Ms. Modica!

April Students of the Month

Building cells in 7th grade Science

Last week, Ms. Landivar's 7th graders built animal cells using candy! They created animal cells and labeled all of the parts before getting to snack on their creations!

iReady Math/ELA Assessment

The last diagnostic assessment of the school year for iReady ELA and Math is happening this week! We will be administering these assessments on Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20. Students will be taking the assessment first thing in the morning. We will then operate on a two hour delay schedule following the assessment. Please make sure that your child comes to school with a charged chromebook on both of those days. Also, help explain to your child(ren) that these assessments are important in helping us determine their skill levels in both of those areas in order to provide the best instruction possible to ensure they are all successful in school. It is important that the students take their time and try their best on these diagnostics. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Edelman.

PTO Spirit Wear

The PTO is running an online spirit wear store from now until May 29th! Click the link below to order all of your much needed bulldog gear!

PBIS Update

This month the PBIS Committee is focusing on positive behaviors in the hallway. If a teacher recognizes a student exhibiting positive behavior in the hallway the student will earn a raffle ticket. At the end of the month, the committee will pull a raffle ticket and the student who wins will get a chance to pie a teacher in the face! Many teachers have volunteered for this event as a way to raise money for the ALS Foundation and for Mental Health Awareness. The PBIS Committee has set up cups in the main office for each of our teacher volunteers. The teacher who raises the most money will be the "winner" and will be pied in the face by our student raffle winner! Be sure to stop by the main office to contribute to a great cause and don't miss out an opportunity to pie your favorite teacher in the face!

The RMS Summer Program is back!

Rombout Middle School is running a 4-week Summer Academy that will be broken up into two sessions. Session 1 runs July 11-21 and Session 2 runs August 1-11. The goal of this program is to provide students with a well-rounded enrichment experience and set students up for success as they enter into a new grade. Classes and activities will take place 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday) and the program is open to any student going into 7th, 8th or 9th grade in the 2022-2023 school year. Spaces in the program will be limited due to staffing restraints and the expectation is that the student will commit to an entire two-week program; students may enroll in just one session or can enroll in both sessions. We will be offering enrichment classes in the following subjects: Math, Science (6th and 7th only), English Language Arts, Spanish (8th grade only), and Physical Education. 8th graders who did not pass Spanish I in the 2021-2022 SY will have the opportunity for high school credit recovery during this program and must attend both sessions.

Each of the two week sessions will include two field trips. Students must attend classes in order to attend the field trips. There is no cost to participate and district transportation will be provided. Breakfast and lunch will be served, at the beginning and at the end of each day. Guidance will be contacting the families of individual students who have been recommended for the summer enrichment program. However, the program is open to any student who wants to participate. In order to be accepted, each student must sign up following the registration process below.
