Guidance
During guidance every class is learning about how to speak assertively. When we learn about being assertive, we follow these four guidelines: 1.) Face the person you're talking to; 2.) Keep your head up and shoulders back; 3.) Use a calm, firm voice; 4.) Use respectful words. When being assertive we still need to use nice words and focus on our tone of voice so that we don't sound rude but instead sound confident. Once we have completed with our assertiveness lesson, we're heading straight into discussions about feelings and how to cope with them. Help students recognize their feelings and the feelings of others. This helps them understand not only their feelings but the feelings of others which in return builds the skill of empathy.

Saber Spotlight
Sam Von Muenster - 1st Grade - Mrs. Slinkman
Sam consistently demonstrates all the SABER expectations. He is a great role model for other students, and I can always count on him to be doing the right thing. He is kind and respectful to others and is always willing to help.
Payton Goldensoph - 1st Grade - Mrs. Dirksen
Payton is a pillar of our "SABER" acronym. She is always ready to learn, follows directions and gets right to work no matter the task. She believes in herself by trying new concepts and is always ready to lend a helping hand to her fellow students. She shows respect to adults within the building as well as students.
Collin Oliver - Kindergarten - Mrs. Petersen
Collin is a great kid who always displays SABER behavior. He is a good role model, respectful, nice to others, and a great listener. I know that I can count on him to do the right thing and set a good example for his classmates.
Avery Vinson - 2nd Grade - Mrs. Rooks
Avery is being recognized for her outstanding efforts within the classroom and for helping expand the 2nd grade plants unit by connecting students directly with Monarch Butterflies. Her excitement for learning has been very contagious to so many
kids this year!
Caleb Adams - Kindergarten - Mrs. Fox
Caleb is very bright and eager to learn. He is excited everyday about learning and the things we do as a school family. When you meet Caleb, you begin to realize the impact that our school district has on the community and the legacy it leaves. I am honored to have in my classroom!
