If there is a change in how your student will be riding home, please call the Ekstrand Office as soon as possible, but definitely before 2:30 p.m. so that we have time to relay that message.

Members of Ekstrand's Saber Senate organized a two week drive for the Referral Center in DeWitt to collect a variety of items for families in need. On Wednesday October 31st the drive concluded and Ekstrand was able to collect 2,043 items that were donated by members of our school community. Thanks for the overwhelming support!

Ekstrand november news show

During guidance every class is learning about how to speak assertively. When we learn about being assertive, we follow these four guidelines: 1.) Face the person you're talking to; 2.) Keep your head up and shoulders back; 3.) Use a calm, firm voice; 4.) Use respectful words. When being assertive we still need to use nice words and focus on our tone of voice so that we don't sound rude but instead sound confident. Once we have completed with our assertiveness lesson, we're heading straight into discussions about feelings and how to cope with them. Help students recognize their feelings and the feelings of others. This helps them understand not only their feelings but the feelings of others which in return builds the skill of empathy.

mileage club

This year Mr. Burke has organized a mileage club for our students to participate in during their recess. We have have designed a track around the perimeter of our playground that the students can choose to walk around during their recess. Each student has a QR Code that they scan on an iPad for each lap they complete. Students can earn a rubber 'foot' for each milestone lap they complete. Thanks to Mr. Burke for getting this up and running, as well as the PTO for their financial support.

Saber Spotlight

The students below are in the Saber Spotlight for demonstrating S.A.B.E.R behaviors in all environments at Ekstrand.
