A Message from the Principal
Dear Weiss Families,
We are so excited to see all of our students back at Weiss after the holiday break! The break is always a time to recharge and spend time with loved ones, and we hope that everyone had a wonderful and restful time.
As we begin the second half of the school year, we are filled with excitement and enthusiasm for all the amazing things we will accomplish together. We are confident with our continued partnership to support our students that we will have a truly successful and memorable year. Please note the Career Day flyer that is attached further down in this Newsletter. Career Day is February 24th and we are still looking for volunteers to share their careers with our students on this day.
Here's to a great second half of the school year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Bezeau

January Focus Word- Responsible
This month we will be talking a lot about responsibility. We will learn that we can be responsible when we make good choices. Some of the language we can use are talking about green choices are good and we want to keep doing those, and red choices are not the best and we want to stop making those. To help with this at home, talk as a family about the times we make choices in our personal lives and what we do as adults to ensure we are being responsible.
Here is a video meant for kids that talks about responsibility: https://youtu.be/RGJpO2qHUbQ

Food Account Balances
Dear Parents:
The goal of the Gibraltar School District’s breakfast and lunch program is to provide healthy meals to children during the school day. We are encountering many negative lunch balances in all of our buildings this year and want to provide some information and guidance so we can work together to reduce these balances. As a reminder, the USDA discontinued “free lunch for all” at the beginning the 2022/2023 school year.
Beginning January 17, automated messages (text and email) will begin to be sent home to families whose student’s food service (breakfast/lunch) account balance has reached a negative balance of $5 or more. These notifications will generally be sent on Tuesday evenings.
In the meantime, we encourage you to log in to MiStar Parent Portal to check your child’s balance. Payments can be easily made by clicking on “Online Food Service Payments” inside of the Parent Portal.
Should you have any questions regarding your child’s Food Service account, please contact the Food Service department at 734-379-7620.
