Flex Time

Over the last three weeks, we have been spending 40 minutes of each day FLEXing our brains. We have all been working on stretching out words. Some of us are still working to hear and write beginning and ending. Others have really focused on vowel sounds. Others have already been able to write CVC words, words with consonant, short vowel, consonant, so we have pushed them to really master those digraphs, sh, th, and ch and then study blends like bl, fr, sp, st, etc. One last group started with blends and then dove into learning some of the most common long vowel choices and how to write words with long vowel sounds in them. It has been quite the three weeks and we have seen so much growth. Thank you so much for helping your child with their homework if they were one of the groups with work to review at home. We are so proud of how far they have come and grown.

100th Day of School

Wow! We had quite a day today. We were soooooo excited for our 100th day. We made 100th day crowns, was led through a scavenger hunt, searched for 100 number stickers hidden around the room, learned abut tallies and tried to see how many licks it takes to get to the bottom of a tootsie pop. We made fruit loop necklaces, had a snack with 100 items, shared out 100th day projects, and finished up playing some games with our buddies. It was quite the day! Check out our pictures below.

PS-thank you sooooo much for all of the donations. It made this a truly memorable day.

We went to add the next circle to our counting caterpillar, and instead had a clue! Which made us do all kinds of exercised while counting up to 100. After 5 clues, we were lead to a gift bag full of goodies for today

inside the bag was a cocoon. Our counting caterpillar had changed into a butterfly!

Inside of the bag were also the glasses we had made earlier in the week, to go on our number hunt

There were also some toostie pops for our toostie tallie!

We also enjoyed making fruit loop necklaces. first we counted out 100 fruitloops and then started stringing. some of us got farther than others. check their backpacks for the baggie we put them in

Check us out at our 100th Day Museum!

And finally, we made our 100th day snack and then later enjoyed time with our buddies.

Student Led Conferences

Please make sure you sign up here for our student led conferences in February. This is a time for your child to show you some of the stuff we have been working on lately.

I wonder (things to ask your child at home)

  • Did you write any books this week?
  • What are you working on in your flex group room this week?
  • Can you tell me what happened in the story I Looked Through My Window?
  • Can you tell me a word that rhymes with sun? pet? red?
