Sebastian River Times
November 2022
Dear SRMS Families,
Please continue to be an active role in your child’s educational and personal growth. Every family should have a FOCUS account to stay informed about their child’s academic progress. It is an online web-based program that can be accessed from a computer and the FOCUS app can be downloaded to handheld devices. Visit our district website at www.indianriverschools.org, under the “I Want To” section to the right select “Add Student or Register for Focus Account, then follow the instructions for registration.
After-school activities are in full swing at SRMS. There are many clubs and activities available for your child to be involved in at school. I would like to thank the many teachers who give their time to make these activities available. If your child is in Advanced Science classes, you should have seen paperwork regarding the Science Fair projects and deadlines. Please work with your child to ensure your child is meeting the deadlines for these projects. Simply check their science grade to see if they are up to date. There are many requirements for the project and our Science Department has planned an easy-to-follow schedule for students.
This a reminder to parents that the School District of Indian River County implemented an ID Badge program last year. In short, ID Badges are required to get on and off school buses, worn visibly while at school, scanned for attendance, at Media Center book check-out, and in the cafeteria line for lunches and snacks. Replacement badges are available for $5 from Mrs. Giordano in the Guidance Office.

Chromebooks
Please encourage your students to take care of these devices as they would any piece of valuable electronic equipment. There is a financial obligation attached if the device is damaged, destroyed, or lost, so this is an excellent opportunity to promote responsible care for borrowed items.
If you have questions at any time during the year about your student's device, please contact Assistant Principal, Jeramy Keen at Jeramy.Keen@indianriverschools.org.

TRIO Educational Talent Search Program
The ultimate goal of the ETS Program is to assure that our participants graduate from high school, apply to and enter the college of their choice, secure financial aid/scholarships to pay for their college education and graduate with a postsecondary educational credential.
Click here for more information. Please email Nichole Garrick with the names of potential candidates for this program. See the informational flyer below.
T-Dap
Incoming 7th graders need to have their T-dap Immunizations before starting 7th grade. Please check with your health care provider to find out if your child needs their immunization and to get a copy of their Immunization Record to turn in to our school's Health Assistant. Your Health Assistant is Mrs. Jennifer Shoepef. She can be reached at 564-5198 or jennifer.schoepf@indianriverschools.org. If you need to discuss your student's medical needs with Nurse Schoepf, please call or email to make an appointment. Walk-in meetings will not be allowed.
Report Cards
Download the PBIS Rewards Parent App!
You can download the app and see how many credits your student is earning, and from which teacher, and what they are buying with their credits. If you've ever struggled to come up with some dinnertime conversation, this is a great way to engage your student..."I see you earned 25 Cowboy Credits today in Mrs. Dotson's class...what did you do to get those?' Or, "Are you saving up your Cowboy Credits to buy something big?"
Code of Conduct Forms
Below are all of the Code of Conduct forms you need, in English and Spanish.
