Pets on School Property
Please Read this Important Notice
Dear NSE Families:
We are writing this notice to ask for your cooperation and support to help make our school premises, including our outside grounds, a safe place for all students and families.
As a school situated within a neighborhood, we understand that it can be convenient to walk to and from school with your pet to drop off/pick up your child when the weather is nice. However, we ask that pets only be allowed on school grounds when you are driving to/from school and your pet is secured safely inside your vehicle at all times. Otherwise, your pet(s) should remain off school grounds during school hours, unless approved by the principal, as a Service Animal, in which case we ask that you provide proof of vaccination and county/township registration/license. Additionally, we ask that you please check in at the Main Office when bringing your service animal into the building.
This notice is in line with current school board policy 9150A. If you would like to reference this policy, please visit our district webpage: www.clarkston.k12.mi.us. You can find this policy under the tabs: ‘Board of Ed’ and then ‘Policies’ or we can provide you with a printed version in our office.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact us at 248-623-4100.
Thank you for your cooperation and support. As the owner of two dogs, I certainly understand the love and companionship a pet can bring to a family, however, having multiple pets present during one of the busiest times at our school, (arrival/dismissal) has the potential to create a hazardous environment for everyone (people and animals alike). Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Johnson
