FOURTH/FIFTH GRADE CHORUS BEGINS THIS FRIDAY
Information and permission slips were sent home last week with students who showed an interest in joining chorus. Chorus is not mandatory but is offered to students interested in joining a singing performing group. Rehearsals are scheduled on Fridays during your student's recess. Our first rehearsal will be held on Friday, September 22. We are asking that permission slips be returned no later than Thursday, September 21. If you did not receive a permission slip your student can come see Miss Steinbach to receive one or click this LINK to make a copy.

ANNUAL HEALTH SCREENINGS
Notification of Vision, Hearing, & BMI Screening
In accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, vision and hearing screenings will be performed on all Jordan/Jackson students. In addition, all 4th grade students will have their height and weight recorded. Screenings will begin after October 1. CHAMPS ENRICHMENT
3 CLASSES FOR THE FALL SESSION!
Registration is now open for our CHAMPS enrichment programs! We are pleased to offer Axtreme guitar, Chess Wizards, and Global Child Spanish for our Fall Session. Classes fill up fast so don't miss out! Please click on the links below for more information and don't forget to visit our website to join our email.
CHAMPS MUSIC LESSONS
It's that time of year again! Registration for music lessons at the Jordan/Jackson School is now open. Band, Orchestra and Keyboard are offered and supported by the CHAMPS program. Lessons will start in mid October and continue until the end of the year.
Registration forms are due as soon as possible! Enrollment is not guaranteed and determined by a first-come first-served basis. See the registration forms below. If you would like to speak to one of the instructors in person they will be available during the Jordan/Jackson Curriculum Night on September 28th in the cafeteria.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6 - ANNUAL WALK, BIKE OR ROLL TO SCHOOL
Students are encouraged to participate with a family member and walk, bike or roll to school from home, a neighbor's home, or join Jordan/Jackson students and administrators at one of two central locations to come to school as a group. School administrators will be leading the way along with Resource Officers Wright and McCune and Bentley.
Plan to meet at 7:30am at the following central meeting places:
1. The Municipal parking lot on North Main Street (next to Bluestone Bank).
2. The Public Safety Complex at the corner of East Street and Route 106.
RECESS ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
Jordan/Jackson’s students are invited to participate in the J/J Recess Enrichment Program. The goal of the program is to provide students with an opportunity to explore activities of interest during recess in a safe and nurturing environment. Recess Clubs support positive social connections amongst peers and adults throughout the school. These connections reinforce the importance of an inclusive school community.
Various recess clubs will be offered during each recess period. The clubs are facilitated by a teacher or staff member. Each club will run once a week for a 4-5 week session. All clubs will be have no more than 15 students. Signups for Session 1 will begin September 21 with a makeup date of September 26.
SchoolMessenger - Family Notification
Mansfield Public Schools will now use the SchoolMessenger notification system to deliver text messages with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more. If you would like to 'opt in' for this service, click the following link for more information:
SMARTS AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
SMARTS is offering two clubs this fall, Imagine and Make and Creative Expressions. Both clubs begin October 10. Please click the following link for more information:
Arrival/Dismissal
- Please remember that student drop-off and pickup takes place in the lower loop. The upper loop is for bus drop-off and pickup only.
- If you are in need of Handicap Parking during this time, there are two spots by the crosswalk (see pictures below). Although there are spots in the bus loop, you will not be able to exit that area until the busses have departed.
- Please make sure to come to a full stop at the crosswalk. Students bike, walk and ride scooters to school. Some drivers have a tendency to drive through the crosswalk without stopping and/or checking for students crossing.

MESA's CORNER
Mansfield Elementary School Association (MESA) is the non-profit parent organization of the Robinson and Jordan/Jackson elementary schools. We facilitate fundraising, enrichment, and community building fun for our schools and students. We are always looking for help, new ideas and involvement! Massachusetts Legislature Approves Funding For Universal Breakfast And Lunch For All Students
The state legislature has approved funding for universal free school meals next school year and made universal free school meals permanent. What does this mean? Mansfield Public Schools will provide breakfast and lunch to all students if they choose. Additional snacks can be purchased for a fee.
