The Rundown from Mr. Brown

Jaguar Families,

I want to take a few minutes during this holiday season to thank each of you for making FM9 an outstanding place to learn. Without your support, the climate and culture of our campus would be very different. There is no doubt that 2020 has been a unique year for all of us but we have pushed into our circumstances well and continue to make the very best of this time. No matter the Learning Pathway you have chosen for your student I am so very proud. Both students and teachers and learning and teaching in new ways. As you know next week we take our Fall EOC tests with finals to follow before Winter Break. Let’s finish the semester well.

December STAAR Testing (EOC - End of Course Exams)

Big picture

ALL STAAR tests are required for graduation.

** First round testers includes students currently taking an EOC tested subject this Fall (Eng I, Alg 1, & Bio). There is another round of testing in the Spring (May 2021) for students enrolled in those courses during the spring term.

Students that did not pass a test in December 2019 or prior, will have to retest (per TEA).

Testing will take place the week of December 8 -11.

NEW INFORMATION: Remote/At-home learning will take place Dec.8-11.

Counselor's Corner

Each year we cover different topics mandated by the state during Jag Time. Our goal is to prepare our students as they grow in their social and emotional maturity. Please click the link abov to take a look at the information on these topics prepared for parents.

DE-STRESSING

Here are a few more stress relieving tips:
  • Wear calming colors (blue, green, grey, purple).
  • Make a list of things you're grateful for.
  • Play with your pet!
  • Take a picture of yourself in nature.
  • Clean up your workspace.
  • Create a planner for the week.

Illness Precautions

A few reminders as we enter the flu season and are seeing an increase in COVID-19 across the county:

  • If your student is sick or not feeling well, please keep them home out of extra precaution during this time.
  • Reinforce the importance of wearing masks and remaining socially distant to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
  • If your students experience any symptoms or learn they may have been exposed to the COVID-19 call the LISD COVID Call Center at 469-444-3558.
